I've played a bit. Don't really care for online FPS', every
round seems to play out the same way once the teams work out
a route, and the maps feel so cramped and limiting, but I
like its look and the class system, especially the spy. It's
good but not my thing.

ophecks: yeah the maps are quite cramped but i find the
gameplay really non-linear, i've seen loads of games on the
same map unfold in completely different ways and there are
always alternative offense/defense tactics a team can try,
maybe not so much on ctf but definitely on the capture ones.

jack, added you on steam - my account's desbo at

Yo, TF2 fucking rocks. I played TF classic like 4 hours a
day many years ago, and I've been playing TF2 for about the
same (maybe 3 hours a day). My favorite classes are Soldier
(my personal best, I dominate people with rockets), Pyro,
Engineer, Recon, and Sniper. I'm not a fan of spies for one
reason: every server I've played on has team-damage turned
Off, which means that when people are defending an area, all
they have to do is shoot everything that moves. If blood
squirts out, it's a spy, if the bullets do nothing, he's on
your team. Also, the cloaking device still has sparkles or
something coming off of it for a while while you first
cloak, so it's not that easy to use (i.e. people can still
see you). I'm sure if I played on a server with team-damage
enabled, however, spies would be awesome and would change
the game mechanics significantly.

my steam name is CozmoQ16, feel free to add me if you like.
:)

I play for 3 hours on the days that I play that is. Haven't
played in 4 days, actually, due to being out of town and
working. Will probably come on today, though.

*bump* I can't get the friends search function to work in
steam. Any other way to add friends besides searching for
them?

It's important to get on a good team I guess... some rounds
are really chaotic and formless, but the times I've got into
a game with people that know what they're doing, things work
a lot better. The game is just too in-your-face for my taste
though.

IE- I suck

if u get shot as a spy u have to act cool, as if nothing's
happened at all. then peg it/zap everything.

i don't think so, seems to have work for me in the past. but
whoever was shooting me may have been an idiot.

oh yeah, the model turns into a spy as they die not when
they get hit

no dude, that doesn't work because they can see blood flying
off you if you are on the enemy team, whereas no blood comes
out if you shoot a teammate.

i'm pretty sure you lose your disguise if you shoot/knife,
though...

definitely, but you have to sap all turrents/buildings then
knife like crazy.

so while playing tonight I found out that blood only comes
off of an enemy spy that isn't disguised. You were right
about playing it cool, because if you get shot in disguise
and act like it didn't damage you, sometimes it fools your
opponent. It seemed as though blood always comes off enemy
spies, probably because most of the people i've encounted
panic after I shoot at them once and blow their cover by
firing back. The game is so fast-paced it's often difficult
to tell exactly what order things go down, but anyway I
stand corrected.

While it does look like a pretty solid multiplayer shooter,
the cartoony graphic style just rubs me the wrong way.

I love that style for games like Monkey Island (which I'm
currently playing through the whole series), but I like my
shooters dark and gritty.

*bump* I'm going online to play TF2 now if anyone wants to
join me... my steam name is listed in this thread for those
interested.

i love the cartooniness of TF2, pretty refreshing compared
to all the other FPS's out there. The model animations are
great as well - just don't press G in the middle of a fight.
