I gave out two invites, one never got used at all and eventually banned, and the other was given to big and he & the people he's invited comprise two thirds of oink's total bandwidth. |

No, actually now that I think about it, several people that I've invited have been banned. (CuntyChuck, I'm thinking I lost one to you once.. also penexpers) :) and I haven't gotten punished yet. Also, I've re-invited a guy that got banned for having a terrible ratio. Although, I did receive a message telling me not to reinvite him again or I would lose my invitation privs. |

ive got a couple laying around wasting space if anyone wants em. btw the only way you get punished for what someone you invited does is if they cheat their ratio, which gets both of you banned i believe. |

The quality is high, the speed is fantastic, as long as you find CDs to rip and upload then it's not too hard to maintain an acceptable ratio, the range of choice is high, including not only music but music-making software. So, yes, I'd say it was worth it. |

And to all yee others: I implore thee not to get on oink. Keeping a good ratio is a bitch. Power users actually get on dedicated servers to seed and get a good ratio. |

Seeing as actually using oink myself doesn't interest me in the slightest, it's not really important, but the following I would like to know: Isn't there any sort of punishment/penalty for people you invite being rubbish/getting banned? I was under the impression that the whole point of invite-only was to eliminate trolls and leeches and a good way of achieving this was by penalising people for inviting people who don't contribute and rewarding them for inviting good members. Does this happen at oink? If so, why do people give invites away to total strangers, surely it undermines the principle of it being invite-only? If not, well, why bother making it invite only in the first place? |
