40-fold increase over 10 years seems a little unbelievable.
im questioning the diagnoses

Bipolar Disorder diagnoses increased for a bunch of reasons,
first among them the fact that for a long time what is now
called Bipolar Disorder can look an awful lot like
Schizophrenia at times, so there were some misdiagnoses and
overlap, secondly it's being diagnosed more and more in
children now whereas before clinicians were loath to
diagnose anyone under, say 16 (so you'll see that increase
keep going up as the new diagnostic standards come out for
children in the next 1-2 years), thirdly it became something
of a diagnosis du jour among the walking well. And
lastly as mental health issues get discussed
more and more people who in previous decades went
undiagnosed while the family kept silent and tried to hide
it are now more likely to come to the attention of a mental
health professional. So, George, you're right to question
some of the diagnoses, but I'd be willing to bet that they
are legit for the most part.

as a child,my mother said i was special.
then at the age of 17 i murdered her and made a big stew of
body parts and fed it to my mates.
