Integraation is awesome as far as breaks and orchestra goes.

i hate to sound like a whinging idm fan boi who cant accept
a little change, but all those Holló Utca really bored me.
just silly wanky tunes that i'd much rather not be listening
to. the rest of the album was enjoyable though.

I'm really getting sick of this guy's drum programming. As
of today I'm joining the haters.

ya he shoulda scrapped the beats altogether.

the instruments are very naked in the mix, can clearly hear
its digital, but it adds to the charm of what sounds like a
horror soundtrack from eastern europe 20 years ago.

he really does this well as he did on rossz, but i still
consider rossz slightly better because of its variety.
he does strings very good here though.

overall 9/10, 9 because 1. he could've added some more stuff
and 2. the beats, they interrupt my flow and like on rossz i
just skip them usually.

The record couldnt be any more appropriately titled.

This dude needs to go on sabbatical for a long long time
before he tries to release anything "new" any time soon.

I hear he is releasing two more lps, and three more 7"s
before the year is over.....and 20+ releases in 2008.

I like it, poor guy has a lot of weight on his shoulders.
It's ashame because he is a really nice guy in person,
address alllll of his fans, sends them free cd's (remember
the guy who's car got broken into? Arron sent him a huge
chunk of his catalog for free and some other cool swag).

And don't know man I really admire the guy a lot, I wish
more of my favorite bands were as cool as he is.

I don't know why everyone is expecting all this shit from
him, we all know his styles and what he does in his music,
this is like being angry that Devo didn't produce a rap
album or Aphex not singing a good ballad.

It's all going over my head I really don't know what all the
fuss is about, it's a good album, if you don't like ti thats
cool too, whatever man.

he listened to a song of mine ages ago and we talked about
orch stuff around the release of rossz.
i got the impression he was a nice guy yeah.

rossz is one of my long time favorites, and this doesnt
disappoint.

ive not read all that people have written about him, but for
this album he deserves praise, i know how hard strings and
stuff can be and he nails it perfectly.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I for one am not doubting his
character as a person. I'm just saying his music is
becoming dangerously formulaic.

YES, this album is different for him, but when interpreted
through the lens of Rossz, it's not too dissimilar, that's
all.

The differences between Devo and Aphex vs Vsnares, is that
one can drammatically tell the difference between full
length albums. It becomes more difficult to do the same for
VSnares. Yes, one could argue that is a challenge to the
mold of expectation as it relates to the album format, but
honestly I think Snares has become such a "brand" it could
be working against him.

I really enjoy his work. I know his music divides audiences
greatly. I agree with what Oxygenfad said about him. I've
chatted with him once or twice. Based on that, and
everything i read about people that meet him, he is def a
good guy. It'd be cool to actually meet him some day.

You are spot on with the breakdown of peoples expectations
of his music. Its like expecting Slayer to produce an
Operatic album, with orchestra, Tom Araya singing with a
gentle voice, and everyone in the band wearing a Tux, clean
cut playing violins. Thats not what they do. Thats what
metallica does. Although they didn't ditch their
instruments they did a duet with an orchestra which was
fucking sloppy as a steaming pile of shit. They changed
their image, writing style...and pretty much said F U to
fans and sold out to the retards so they could make
millions. i adore their albums up until ...and justice. but
everything else is shit to me. but i'm straying off on a
tangent here.

I like when i pick up a Vsnares album, i know its going to
be fast, agressive, crazy shit. Its obviously not chill out
ambient music. But its like people going to a yanni concert
expecting a metal show complete with mosh pit...its fucking
gay ass Yanni....people just puzzle me that way.

to all the haters: what is it exactly that you dislike so
much about his music? I don't mean to generalize but most
of you guys just find posts about his albums and bash and
bash while people that might want to actually talk about it
or give a fuck have to put up with this bullshit. speak
up...i really want to understand why you can't stand this
guy or his music.

gl0tch , I see your point.

Venetian Snares albums change in sound per portioned to his
release scope. You can group the releases that sound the
same by virtue of when they were released.

{
hospitality
cavalcade of glee and dadaist...
}
{
winnipeg is a frozen shithole
infolepsy ep
}
{
huge chrome cylinder box unfolding
horse and goat
}

And so on ... yes there is the odd exception, but for the
most part you can tell that that most of these groups came
from the same session, but were most likely broken up due to
release obligations.

Maybe if Vsnares is the only thing you listen to all day ,
it might get stale, but I can't think of to many other
artists which such a huge catalog of A++ stuff.

SLAYER releases the same album over and over again,

i like vsnares he just puts out too many fucking records.
Artists that do this ala Merzbow get in a bad cycle
eventually and tire people including myself. I like a lot of
merzbow and vsnares both but h ell no am i going to
anticipate with glee everything they put out, i could not
follow their career for years and not really care. he needs
to have a little bit more quality control imo.

oy oxygenfad. Slayers early catalog is among some of the
best metal out there. There were/are better bands out
around, but everything up until Diabous in Musica or
whatever are awesome. the double live album they did is
probably THE best live metal album ever. Everything since
kinda they've just released the same album over and
over....but, i admire them for sticking to what they do and
not selling out for an audience of retards.

jackeroffer...i kind of like the fact the dude releases a
ton of material. Its better than waiting 4 years for an
artist to release something thats been on the shelf for 3.5
years just collecting dust b/c of record label nonsense or
whatever. Look at the Tuss tracks, how long ago was RDJ
playing those out live? 2 3 years ago now? Even snares
lets his music sit on the shelf for a year or so before
releasing it.

which is pretty good.

Something about My Downfall didn't rub me the right way. I
can't even really put my finger on it, but I feel like the
break beat cuts/slices were just kind of not integrated well
with the strings. It almost felt rushed, or like he composed
the strings/beats separately and then combined them later in
Pro Tools randomly...

I like the previous Rossz better. I'm happier with him
returning to his "roots" in Detrimentalist...
