I have never listened to 808 State before tonight.

earier stuff. SAW. Hearts Of Space Program #356. Future
Sounds Of Jazz Volume 8. Etc. Great stuff.

It really is. I never liked old acid or electro. It was too
abrasive for me I think. But with absence, comes the longing
for. Its about time I enjoyed it.

yeah classic track!
but thinking of remastering/ new editions etc..
its technically possible that in the next 10 years, most
indie label might stop business & only sell music via online
(itunes, bleep, myspace). so i guess no one will ever spend
days mastering old trax for fans. like rephlex are
repressing quadrastate i think, but who's gonna
repress/remaster anything when record labels will be gone
???
itunes? certainly not.

I asked the guys from 808 state if there were separate
tracks from the original available because I thought the afx
version sounded so much more bold and louder. I guess
rephlex just ran the whole mix through some compressors or
something cause they told me it was all done live on a 2
track.

it was very fucking excellent
no flow coma but about 90 mins of improv-arranged acid about
100bn times better than most new acid impersonator retro
faux whatevers
staggeringly good simple riffs
production very proper
was funny hearing loads of the audience telling each other
what a 303 is
crowd were well into it even tho they responded to all the
signifiers in this really techno-literate way ie screaming
when a snare comes in g+g managed not to give em that
obvious rush and go somewhere more oblique and better
loved it personally

I thought the afx
version sounded so much more bold

he actually remade it from scratch on the same gear plus
other gear
he's good ya know! makes that track even more amazing

Wang was great. Totally agree with you George.

They did seem a little rusty but who can blame them.

Weatherall played a blinding solid set of tech house in the
other room as well.
