no, reason has no way to input external audio....

unless you figure out someway to get into the ReWire
interface, and use the ReBirth interface in Reason....that'd
work, but i dunno how you'd re-route your audio like that.

route reason into a rewire host that can provide line-in
capabilities

done

it seems like pigster doesn't want to use a host
sequencer....i think he/she wants to process external audio
using the effects boxes within Reason

yeah. was playing around with the vocoder and that got me
curious as to how to get some external audio in there, so i
snooped around and found nothing.

if that is indeed the case, then yes your suggestion of
using an external host sequencer would be most beneficial

the most obvious way would be to sample your external audio
and bring it in using an NN19 or NNXT

but that sucks, because you have no dynamacy over the audio
coming in.

i'm sure there should be a way to hook into the ReBirth
interface

someone must've coded something to allow you in through
Reason's arse like that

:)

Reason is crap. Stop using it.

Maybe a good suggestion: I use the asio4all drivers and they
contain a special extra nice feature called the rewuschel.
Propellerheads released rebirth to the public, and added a
way to integrate it into reason. It's audio output can be
configured as a rebirth input machine in reason, and can
then be routed to any of the devices you want to use for
effects.

I'm not sure how this works exactly, but the rewuschel can
act as if its rebirth and route audio from any (compatible)
source, and that way you might be able to route audio into
reasons vocoder, in a live-ish fashion.

good idea fatherclem

if that dont work , thiis what i do :

use nuendo ..rewire reason into it (very easy) route the
reason sounds i want to a group and the microphone to the
group also ( route each channel to either left or right so
the mic is on the left the reason on the right or visa
versa)

then use either Orange vocoder..or the nuendo variant,

it works fine'''i was just getting into it when i realised i
had to do some work ..lost track!

but although ...if you tweak the settings just right on the
steinberg vocoder you can get some very interesting
sounds...

i was wondering or hoping to get an analogue vocoder or a
very high res one multi band ( outboard module)

that's where i got to on the vocoder side of things.

its fun defo worth a play about with.

the midi all happens internally...in nuendo for example i
can control almost everything on reason by simply selecting
the reason module/parameter on the new midi track i create.
( gives a massive drop down list of things i can control)

so yeh no need for routing midi out and back in to your
machine or any other crazy method to link 2 progs.

and of course all the audio from reason comes to nuendo for
inserts automation and surround ( in multi channel form :)

you do need a powerful cpu if your gonna be doing loads of
stuff..

if you don't it can become a bitchy.
