this is a good release...but, it was written back in 94'-95'
which explains a lot. I liked cylob's older material
compared to his newer creations.

i think his new stuff is ace too, i dont know why Rephlex
isn't still putting out his stuff.

I completly agree, Cylob got lost in his own search for
style, he's trying too hard to give the Cylob moniker a
particular "sound", everyone else moved on, RDJ went back to
the basics with the Analords, Chris more than anyone needs
to do the same.

Rephlex isnt doing any kind of digital media, Cylob knows
"unfortunately that is the way of the future, by only moving
1000 vinyls" doenst pay the bills.

I congradualate Cylob.

well i reckon rephlex have dropped a bollock not putting
Formant Potaton out. it is a proper instant A1 classic
noshit etc.

Just something about it that does my head in a bit.

"Cylob got lost in his own search for

so trying to do something different and not generic is a bad
thing? interesting

"everyone else moved on, RDJ went back to
the basics with the Analords, Chris more than anyone needs
to do the same.
"

ok so he needs to jump on the band wagon with all the analog
hard on people and just make cookie cutter old rave music
with a rephlex twist? It's sad that Cylob is the only
Rephlex artist still doing Braindance but hes not even on
rephlex anymore.

by the way i love Cylob, and i would not listen to his music
right now if he was going back to the 'basics' as you call
it which just another way of saying he needs to use an 808,
909 , and 303 the most overused tired sounding gear in the
history of electronic music

Fuck yeah it is, just trying to be different for the sake of
being different does not make it automatically better. By
back to the basics I meant leaving the gimmickly shit behind
like those lo-fi vacuum cleaner sounding softsynth's that he
made. By your logic I should also appreciated his music more
just because he uses his own music software rather than
someone who uses 808 samples and Reason.

Analord's have some great tracks with classic synth's and
drum machines that still sound fresh <3 Phonatacid

"Fuck yeah it is, just trying to be different for the sake

he's not just trying to be different for different sake, hes
making good quality original music that doesn't sound as
played out as a lot of this rave revival stuff going on
these days. If you get some nose in the air feeling from
his music i honestly think you're over thinking it. I
highly doubt he is as pretentious about his own music as you
seem to think he is

im very defensive of Cylobs work
i think its some of the best electronic music being made
this last year or so. hopefully you can understand my
frustration. sorry if i came off as a cunt or perhaps you've
always thought i was one which is fine :)

I highly doubt he is "trying" to sound like anything, let
alone "trying" to be interesting. A lot of Cylob's best
shit is about engaging a process rather than making a
product. Frankly I could "go back to the basics" and throw
shit together and sound interesting in 5 minutes. That
doesnt take work. The fact of the matter is he's the
complete opposite of gimmicy. Most of the shit out there
now actually does a lot in terms of popularity with very
very little effort. re: breakcore. re: dubstep.

Cylob has been slowly developing his particular sound for
over 10yrs now with custom designed software. THAT takes
work. And the fact that a strong handful of people do NOT
get it, at this point seems to me that he is in fact doing
something right.

If moving on means moving backwards, that's just simply
retardedness across the board.

Because it's easier to make fakes of and pass them of as
your own on wankypeadia, OBVIOUSLY.

just professing again my absolute love for cylob. can i not
have an erection for cylob without being called a faker?

This whole "you're a faker" hoopla is played out. There's
nothing we can do about it. It's over. Get over it.

We might as well just start making fun of people for being
British.

Reading his blog/site he does have a very high opinion of
himself, hence my own opinion that he's trying too hard to
sound original.

Also to me the best thing he did in a decade was that live
set at Glade, too bad Breezeblock didn't fully
recorded/aired it. That sounded fresh and good.
