i don't think a touch-screen ipod makes much sense. with the
iphone it did make sense. it is a means to achieve both
usability and functionality. in other words: the iphone is
more like a pocket-computer, so there's a clear incentive
for a touch-screen. for the ipod however, the only reason to
have a touch-screen is to be able to have a bigger screen to
watch videos on. and i hate to say it, but videos on ipods
are never going to work, i think. it's incredibly lame to
watch some video on a small screen like that. so yeah, apple
has made video-pods in the past, but i hope they smarten-up
and ditch the dodo.

Video iPods with touchscreens would totally make sense
considering they would fit into the family and compliment
the iPhone. The problem is, comparatively speaking, the
difference between the two will be much harder to
immediately discern.

OS X will likely be built into the next gen iPod, along with
wireless downloads from the iTunes Store. I can't help but
imagine the future of the iPod merging with that of the
iPhone. Eventually they'll become the same device, with the
ability to make phone calls being purely preferencial.

All I have to say is this: Break 100GB and hook up some
Bluetooth Headphones

They'd probably hit a bigger market if they put a tv tuner
into it so that those people who have to watch the
game!!!!
could do so in style.

One last thing... (heh heh)

How old are iPods now? Six years? I look back to the first
gen and those things are archaic. I look at the current gen
and they seem predictable. The iPhone was nice, but was it
really that revolutionary? I mean, the UI is gorgeous, but
like iPod, it was built on pre-existing technology for the
most part. I guess the revolutionary thing was that Apple
thought of it first (sort of) and figured out how to combine
the elements into a new device.

But it's 2007. That shit should have been here seven years
ago. They're gonna have to do something huge for their
tenth anniversary.

For the iPod to be revolutionary once again, they are going
to have to start developing hardware exclusively for the
iPod. If they were smart, they'd make the thing modular and
expandable.

Here's what needs to happen:

-Collapsible, expandable, rollable digital screens need to
be ubiquitous (almost there)

-Touch screen technology needs to be incoporated in to
that.

-Hard drives need to increase in capacity and be shrunk down
to watch battery size or smaller. These should be able to
be stacked or chained for ease of use, thereby making the
iPod more configurable and more social (ie-able to trade
harddrives with friends)

-Bluetooth headphone technology needs to get it's ass in
gear.

...

I'm seeing future iPods as a wristwatch like devices that
have a fold out screen that loops around a finger and covers
the entirety of the hand. The wrist element would be base
cost, with collapsible screens being sold in various sizes
(hand lengths). Modular harddrives could be slid into the
wrist element, not exceeding something like the size of a
roll of pennies or something.

These ideas are ©®™ gl0tch, but are for sale. ;)
