Buddhism has it right i reckon.
you cant be purely objective, nor subjective.
they create each other.

1. The tendency to emphasise what is external to or
independent of the mind.

2. Philosophy: the belief that moral truths exist
independently of human knowledge or perception of them.

Concise O.E.D.

you could argue that there is no true objective.

for a start, objectivity is a concept existing in the mind.

any objective statement is produced in the mind, rendering
it subjective

following this, any objective statement is subject to
subjective interpretation by another.

the only way to approach objectvity is to abandon all
judgement

Objectivism the only valid, true way of looking at the
world. Of course, that's just my opinion.

It's impossible to be objective about anything, as every
scrap of knowledge residing in you has been drip-fed by
others. You don't even experience anything. It's impossible
to experience anything as long as you are using thought as
the "experiencer". So unless you know all the knowledge that
there is to know you don't have a sufficient reference of
knowledge from which to be objective about anything.

Yeah, you only have opinions, which mean nothing anyway.

is it then true that your thoughts on that has been drip-fed
by others and regurgitated by you?

does a homeless person not need my money more than i do?

offline Barcode from United Kingdom on 2007-09-01 10:45 [#02116632]

Me drip-fed? 100%

You can't comment objectively on what a homeless person
needs, society is to blame for creating a value system that
has falsified you and your opinions in every way. One thing
you can be sure of is that society is quite happy with
homeless people. If society was unhappy about homeless
people nobody would be homeless.

imagine if xltronic just disappeared one day. all of these
posts and memories, gone forever. our fragile electronic
relationships severed, never to be reattached. all those
moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
