Hi Fi separate MP3 options?

I'm looking for a hi fi separate that plays MP3s. I suppose
ideally this would be a hard drive based system, but the
only one I've found is pretty expensive.

Another option would be something that plays MP3 CDRs......
any recommendations here? I've been looking at
this.

Yet another option would be something that plays MP3
DVDs.... I suppose a lot of DVD players will do this -
including
this one. However, I don't want to have to have a TV
plugged into my Hi Fi system, and I should imagine it'd be a
real pain to trawl through an entire DVD's worth of MP3s on
a little LCD screen - or would it?

I'd like to spend less than £100 if possible...... any
advice gratefully received....

Most dvd players play mp3s. You usually don't flip through
them on the lcd panel, but rather on the tv, with some sort
of folder system.

Why you would want a hifi thing to play mp3s is beyond me,
but suit yourself. You could possibly look into those media
server thingies where you just have a box that you connect
to the stereo and then you stream stuff from your
computer...

I can't think of any, but I will watch this thread as I am
contemplating something similar myself. I'll probably wind
up just going for a half-decent MP3-CD deck, but a big HD
unit would be nice. I'll rig it up into a slightly modified
T-amp and project Hi-Fi Turntable and wind up with an
awesome system for under £250.

Oh and wait for some prick to point out "You're not going to
get 'hi-fi' for under £100!" ;)

Just kidding around...I need something similar too. I'll be
watching you...

He he, nowadays there are plenty of hi-fi components that
shame things costing hundreds of pounds, for under £100.
The afformentioned T-amp amplifier and Project turntable,
for example.

Also, the ps3 will receive media served over the lan (mp3s
as well as movies) and then you can send that through the
optical out.. if you want something that does more than play
files, that is... There are also lots of different
hard-drives encased in a hifi shell that do similar things.
