before and after installing xp on an amd athlon 2,2ghz, 1gb ram
one of the first messages at bootup is:
'not enough space in runtime area!! smbios data will not be available. press f1 to continue.'
After this, it boots up normally. Google isn't helping me :(
any ideas what this means and how to solve it?

Never seen that message before, sorry. Have you noticed any particular features of XP that have stopped functioning? Perhaps XP's drivers are correcting the issue. Anyway, sorry I can't be more helpful.

After searching, found this: - This message is displayed when the size of the SMBIOS data exceeds the available SMBIOS runtime storage size.
- This indicates that the SMBIOS event log is full, then BIOS stops logging events to the SMBIOS event log. The SMBIOS event log can be cleared in BIOS Setup under the SMBIOS Event Log menu...
