this game rocks.

i thought the first on gamecube was amazing, but the 2nd
seemed like more of the same to me and got boring after a
while.

3 doesn't seem to have a whole lot added to the formula, but
i think it's fantastic. started out kinda weird and not good
with the whole interaction with people but after that it got
great.

sky town is the shiznit!

it took me a few hours to get into prime 2, cause i wanted
more story about the chozo, but in this metroid universe,
theres obviously other aliens too, and the luminoth are
interesting. the lands were very well designed in this game
too. i cant really find any flaws in prime 2.

if you want to re-experience the world of super metroid, try
metroid redesign, best super metroid hack ever

i'm not too fond of hacks, due to glitches and all, but i'll
give it a shot. what i really want to experience is zero
mission, especially after watching a speed run of the
original metroid. only i'm a purist so i have to wait until
i find the original cartridge.

i'll give metroid prime 3 a shot and a waggle at the end of
the month.

fucking hell, i was playing metroid 3 for an hour, and i
wanted to go to the store, but i didnt want ot waste the wii
remote batteries, and i saw a power button on the
controller, it turned the whole system off! dammit. but hey,
cool feature.

Gameplay wise, Zero Mission is the best Metroid ever. But it
has this bright flashy art style and low quality music that
puts me off. Super Metroid has so much atmosphere, it's just
incredible. Of course it's a nearly perfect gameplay-wise,
too.

As for MP3... it's certainly an expertly crafted game, but
the level design and style are very beentheredonethat. The
controls are nice but the combat is as simplistic as ever,
so it's not as big a deal as it could have been.

Great game but frankly I'm excited that Retro don't have to
do another Metroid. They're so talented, let them really
flex their creative muscle with a new universe and style of
play.

unfortunately eve4n with all these new gimmicks, super
metroid is still unbeatable if not for the excellent musical
score alone.

its not your typical hack, i was hesitant at first but after
playing a few hours, I realized that it's even better than
supermetroid, the world is about 4x bigger. the same areas
and music and enemies are intact, it's just a complete
redesign. Very professional too.

I agree with Ophecks in this thread. While I'm having lots
of fun playing this game, there are a few things that bother
me.

I'm getting powerups way too fast and not even fighting
bosses to obtain them. That's one thing I loved about
echoes. As for the bosses I've fought, they we way too easy.
I beat echoes in hard (with the help of my step brother for
the boost guardian) so I maybe veteran mode will offer more
of a challenge for me.

I loved the other metroid games for that desolate feeling,
being alone on a planet and having to think for myself.
Getting transmissions all the time and seeing soldiers
everywhere completely ruined this aspect.

As for multiple planets, while it's interesting it's also
tedious. It takes longer to get to new areas as opposed to
the elevators in the other games. And the areas are so
small. AND the load times (waiting for a door to open) can
take up to 10 seconds for me.

Other than that, I'm loving this game (I'm looking for
energy cells now to fuel up the Valhalla.)

Well I enjoyed it but there were a few things that bothered
me too much to just let slide.

*Boss fights were way too easy.

*The chozo satellite thing that shows you where to find
secret items ruined the mystery (with exception to pirate
homeworld and the valhalla)

*Finding a new item didn't give you that feeling like
a) you earned it through a tough fight
b) you were excited to get it and use it

*The Halo shit at the end and beginning was very
un-metroid.

*WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE POINT OF GETTING MISSLES FOR YOUR
FUCKING SHIP? I WAS HOPING THEY'DE BE USED IN THE END FOR
SOME SPACE BATTLE OR SOME SHIT. WHAT THE FUCK?! OH GEE,
SINCE THERES NOTHING TO GET BUT MISSLES, GOTTA FIND
SOMETHING, RIGHT?

All in all I thought prime 1 was the most ground breaking,
prime 2 was the best overall, and prime 3 had the best
controls.

I LOVED Metroid Prime 1, not enjoying this as much though,
hated the beginning, with all the people interaction, and
now i keep getting transitions telling me exactly where to
go next, so far its basically Metroid Prime with a bit of
Halo mixed in... the control system is amazing though,
hopefully there will be some more fps with this setup.

Super Metroid for me is the best metroid game ever. The
first one on NES was cool and everything i spent hours
playing it...but SM was just the perfect game for me. The
newer ones are nice (i've only played the first metroid
prime and the other gameboy versions). But i don't care for
the 3d environment, I'm not saying the games weren't fun but
i'm sick of the fact that almost every game has to be in a
3D environment now.

i would love a new platform 2d side scrolling game on the
Wii instead of their smaller handheld systems. I know
they've gone away and i'm not sure how the new Wii controls
would figure into the equation, but imagine how sick that
game would be if they got the creators of SM to design the
game etc.
