Steely Dan: Aja

So what do you think about this release? It sounds like
it's made of crystal to me. It somehow manages to
capture all aspects of my youth: playing the saxaphone,
getting autographs, deacon blues etc. Some of the
more forward-thinking songs really had me scratching my head
when I was younger. How could something that sounds so
sleezy also be so class? I mean, my mom likes this
stuff. Recently I found out that the backup singing on
"Peg" was done by the same man who did the "Toy Story"
soundtrack. This only shows how in the studio, Steely Dan
really pushed the limits of what rock bands could
(and still can) do. To "The Strokes": Eat your hearts out.
These guys were doing it before you were born into your
silver-plate jew-homes. These were times when music was
actually good. Nothing will ever be as smooth jazz
rockish as Steely Dan's Aja.

1977, why don't you come back to me?

Do you like Steely Dan also? If so, tell me, what's your
favorite Steely Dan release? Is it AJA?

Trivia Facts:
Aja is a 'certified platinum' album. Over 1 million copies
have been sold all around the world.

Ha, Katy Lied is great. I love the guitar solo on Bad
Sneakers.

get Countdown to Ecstasy.

Deacon blues is a lovely song, yeah, but aja deffos isn't my
favourite steely dan. "Can't buy a thrill" is probably my
favourite, followed by pretzel logic, but there are plenty
of great tracks on katy lied and countdown to ecstacy..

they're a really, really great band, my dad's into them as
much as i'm into zappa, so i've had my ears bombarded with
their sound since i can remember.

fagan's voice still gets to me though.
