true self

this is the show in which many say he 'lost control'

however i would say this is where he is most in control

much of this is improvisation and i find it to be quite
liberating

and yes i would say calling a woman a cunt on stage and not
getting kicked off for doing so to be 'quite liberating'

bill hicks - moments of utter brilliance swamped by hours of
simple vileness

Daniel Kitson is one of the best, in my books. I don't think
Hick's wasn't a good comedian. I just find a lot of his
material quite childish and I think this perception of him
as something more than an anti-establishment comedian, isn't
deserved. Naturally, he has some moments which make me laugh
and he was quite good, but I hardly find him laugh a minute
funny, or massively insightful.

There are plenty of people (Steve Hughes, for example) who
do his sort of thing and manage to raise more sound
arguments against the system and (more importantly, it's
comedy after all) are funnier with it.

and you haven't considered for a second that Steve Hughes
doesn't owe any of his success to the pioneers that laid the
path for him?

it's not a case of 'who is better' but rather more a case of
evolution my friend.
