[project] Low Winter Sun

i have a couple of projects on the go at the moment. this
is one of them.

it's a side project that me and my friend Glynn are
working on.

One of the obvious influences here is Boards of Canada (yes
i know there's a million BoC soundalikes out there), but
this project's purpose isn't to rip off BoC...it's to expand
our techniques a little. It's influenced but not completely
facsimilising.

the first foray for Low Winter Sun is Crimson Vector, a
track to which i contributed most of the percussion and a
little bit of the melodic content and general feel.

as always, it's a work in progress, but it's pretty much
done...just needs some little tweaks here and there i think.

Ha ha! White Winter Sun is already a track by BoC-soundalike
"Pycho". :D

Not a bad track though, but it needs a bit more dirt to the
sound generally and more delay/blurriness on at least one of
the synth parts.

really? i did not know that :) heh!

thank you very much...i'm hoping to go round to Glynn's
sometime for a session (i prefer to work with people face to
face, rather than over teh Webz of Intar) so we'll see what
we can add/subtract

appreciation of your listenings is tenfold dear Ceri

:)

I love that bass sound: How would one go about making such a
sound?

It's a good track, and I agree with Ceri: More dirt, and
especially a bit of occasional crunch on the top of the
drums to make them sparkle through when suitable.

This is, most definitely, your cover art.

Needs a lot of work if you want to be thought of as a true
pyche ripoff of boards of canada ripoff

I dunno why an e appeared instead of an o.

heh

thanks, i'll take that as a compliment

as said originally, the aim of the project is to have some
influence from BoC but not to be complete rip-offs

so the fact that most people are saying we need work to get
more of a BoC sound is good, because as already said....we
don't wanna be BoC wannabes

heh

You don't sound like them in a bad way though.
The synth in the first half is well good.
The drums need to be muddied up a bit and the stuff in the
second half needs to be more blurry and dream like.
Basically what Ceri said. It has potential though, even if
it is very derivitive.

yay for derivative works :)

otherwise, it'd sound like something you've never heard
before!
