I've got an Eastpak one sort of like Dann_'s except black
and grey. It's got a hidden slot that fits my 17" laptop
perfectly and lots smaller compartments for gear/drugs. I
got it for cheap years ago and it's still in perfect shape!
You would not believe the number of compliments it
recieves as I haul it down the street. Passersby: "Wow,
look at that awesome backpack! It musta cost a fortune!"
Me: "Sho did!" (Wink)

There's lots of padding surrounding the laptop slot and it's
pretty inconspicuous. My computer will survive anything
short of car tires or fire. I am sitting on it right now.

well ive just modified my existing one, ie.e polystyrene at
the bottom, made a makeshift case for my laptop within the
backpack, and some bubble wrap. its snug on my back but gets
real hot real quick. should be cool though

After crashing a motorbike at 60mph and skating along the
road on my back, resting on a £10 backpack with a laptop in
it in a carrier bag (to keep it dry) and the laptop is still
fine, I have come to the conclusion that pricey dedicated
laptop rucksacks are, in most cases, an uneccessary expense.
