If its as slushy as the royal thingies and life aquatic, I'm
gonna hurl all over the popcorn counter. Life Aquatic was
pretty great, but bits of it were disgustingly 'lets all
hug' post therapy prozac gash. The other one even worse. I
don't think I could watch another scene between wonky nose
and that fuckin actress with the lame brit accent without
losing my mind, and my lunch.

Looks like more of the same from Anderson. I understand that
he has a style based around surreal reality which you either
like or you dont and, although I did initially, its been
ripped off so many times by advertising companies (usually
pushing mobile phones) that i've grown to really dislike it
unless the substance behind it is superb (which I dont think
it was in Life Aquatic). This trailer makes the film come
across as being toned down a bit in comparison to his
previous works and I hope this is the case. I'm keen to see
him do something that doesnt rely so heavily on stylization
and 'quirkyness'.

Wow, I'd no idea there was a new Wes Anderson film in the
offing - excellent, I really thought The Life Akwatic had
superb substance, although I've heard talk to the contrary!

anderson has actually said this film is going to be more
'raw' than his other works. as it's co-written by
schwartzman i can believe that. definitely looking forward
to this film.

I just read in an IMDb thread that Bill Murray is making a
cameo appearance as a German mechanic or something -- shame
it's just a cameo as he's been fine in Anderson's previous
three films.

i watched it last night and i'd say it's up there with his
best work, which is basically everything except bottle
rocket. anderson haterz won't find anything to like here.

bill murray's little cameo is great, by the way.

I really, really hated it. Every scene which was supposed
to amuse me just fell flat. All the "eccentricities" seemed
trite and unendearing. The meandering pointlessness I could
overlook if the aesthetic had any appeal to me, but it
didn't.

no way it compares to tenenbaums (only other of his movies
I've seen). That one had endearing, funny, characters, and
at least some plausibility. Darjeeling couldn't tell if it
was play-acting or really doing something. For instance
whenever they'd play with the peacock feathers (or whatever
bird it was), they'd also do some impromptu bullshit, and it
was never funny. Or when brody got in a fake fight with his
wife or the phone, shit that was not plausible. I'm not
saying a story has to be plausible, of course not, but
certainly I'd find it more engaging if the characters
weren't impossible and inconsistent.

Natalie Portman gets naked in that other film. Hallelujah.

natalie portman was undoubtedly the worst part of the whole
experience. i don't care for the hotel chevalier by itself
but it does work really well in adding more of an emotional
impact to some of the scenes in the main feature. i'll
probably skip it when i watch the dvd.

She is an awful actress, but she is really hot though. I
just like looking at her
