half the time, my slsk will connect just fine,
the other half (well, for at least the past couple days),,, it will connect, load the channel list, load my auto-channels, then stop.
no transfers go through, no friends show online, no one shows up in the channel.
i click to join an existing channel (which shows the correct # of ppl in there), it opens new window, but no conversation and the channel members does not load.
:-/
testing tcp port (via the web) is successful.
what listening port are you guys using; what is the default?
why this happens randomly is beyond me

have you tried checking beyond you, then?
check your task manager or msconfig to see if there are any other programs running in the background and creating conflicts with your soulseek when you run it.

Well, I give up. Soulseek is fuking garbage on my box right now.
Installed the beta 157 or whatever, worked fine (logged in with my credentials). ... still flaking out.
uninstalled everything reinstalled 156c or latest stable release my username/password isn't working. this is fuking lame duck type shit right here, folks. there's no reason for this not to be working.

Try nicotine+ instead of the official client. It took a bit of setting up, but now I can't live without it.

Thats because you were a silly little sausage and downloaded the source files instead of the compiled version.
Download this and all will be well.

I was having the same problems: If Soulseek did connect, it would freeze up after a couple minutes, downloads would only initialize and no search results.
I looked at the Soulseek FAQ and it connected me to a patch that fixed it. It only took a couple minutes. One of the latest Windows updates includes a cap for the number of open connections you can have. EventID4226. That's the problem, and I'm sure it affects most P2P programs.
Soulseek works better than it ever did for me now. That's all, folks.
