I met an old couple from England earlier today at work stocking shelves... The wife asked me if I had any sprouts on my cart of frozen food product. She called the cart a "trolley." How cute. I felt that I should do a curtsy and pledge my undying loyalty to the crown. As there were no "spouts" on me "trolley", I told the painfully polite woman that I'd go to the stock-room freezer to get some. I went to the back and to the manager's office where a card game was happening. I watched for a while then left, still not understanding poker, but very interested in it. I took a used news paper and read an article on something about the Middle East. I forget exactly what. I finally get out to the main floor and back to the old English woman and tell her that I am sorry for taking so long, but that I looked everywhere for the "sprouts" but could not find any. With a big sincere smile she said she appreciated me trying anyway. Her teeth weren't all jacked up either. Nice woman. |
