Can anyone recommend an artist similar to Mogwai. I've
tried using sites like Pandora but they're shite.
I prefer Happy Songs for Happy People as an album to the
others.
Something fairly relaxed, probably not to many strings
either, vocals or no vocals. Just need some new chill-out
stuff.
Help please. Thanks

i thought happy songs was a generally tense or intense
album, with some relaxing songs in between as breathers.

try the album & Yet & Yet by Do Make Say Think, or their
most recent album, You, You're a History in Rust.

Piano Magic feel similar to me, but with more vocals. Great
mood music.

It is intense in places, but it has beautiful moments too
and thats what i'm after (beatiful tracks).
Although their best track is of course- Auto Rock. I've
cried many times listening to this. (also makes an excellent
song to use as an early morning wake up call)

mr. beast is actually my favourite album by them since it's
the loudest, yet my favourite mogwai song is tracy off young
team.

people thought it was shite.

lift yr skinny fists like antennas to heaven.

Stuart Braithwaite is a bit of a twat but Mogwai make lovelY
lovely music. I can only recommend 65DAYSOFSTATIC, ISIS,
EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR, THEE
SILVER MOUNT ZION or PELICAN.

mr beast was very bad, but the zidane soundtrack was great,
mogwai are so hit or miss -
earth - hex is mogwai-like

however its got a southern USA slide guitar thing to it
thats definetly an acquired taste, but otherwise its a
classic album

mr. beast is their best album since young team. i thought
zidane was very bland and came off as cody b-sides.

oh baby baby it's a wild world.

in no way am i saying that it was a bad album, i just didnt
get into it, i remember being able to get into one track, i
think glasgow snake or whatever, but it just was too
aggressive for me - i like mogwai best when they take their
time with stuff.
my favorite album by them is cody, and rock action/myfather
my king era stuff.

offline optimus prime on 2007-07-24 19:03 [#02106322]

yeah, they have two very distinctive styles: loud and not
loud. i like the not loud stuff when it's pretty but not
when it's droning.

well, generally i like it all. big fan 'ere.
