I have Under a Blood Red Sky playing, and it's really
good... 11 o'clock tick tock is my favorite...

Goddamn Funk, you do like U2 don't you?
I'd have thought all the shit you get for it would have put
you off *L*

I haven't listened to them for years now... you can have all
my videos and CDs if you want

If you've read that book At The End Of The World, it sort of
dismisses and confirms their pretenciousness in different
areas... while also being interesting, good stuff

yes, OLD u2 IS pretty good!
i like it a LOT more than their newer stuff...
..in fact, i dont think i like their new stuff at all
their older stuff had so much more energy.. and i liked
their sound back then more, too
all this fancy high tech production doesn't suit their sound

yes yes, I read that book like THREE times or something!!!!!
It's really good!!! :)

I dunno, I don't mind a bit of pretentiousness... as long as
it doesn't get out of hand... and personally, I wouldn't
really call U2 pretentious...

well, I love their new albums except for their newest one
really... I love The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, Zooropa,
Pop, etc, etc... I love em all really!!! :)

even October... which is their best from their "old" period
in my opinion!!!

A lot of people have and do, hehe

I agree with AMinal though, the new stuff is well duff... I
don't even like 'Beautiful Day' despite it being used on our
weekly football highlights programme!

A Beautiful Day is pretty good, but the rest of the album is
pretty crappy...

Under a Blood Red Sky is very good though... it's live, and
from 83, and it's very good...

funkmaster,

october is my favorite album too. scarlet, I threw a
brick..,is that all, and october are all unforgetable
tracks. I have a few bootlegs from this era that are really
good. I've got a bootleg(double cd) from around 1989 called
st. stephens at the point which is absolute amazing. I also
picked up that joshua tree gold disk which seems to be
pretty rare. do you collect the old singles from pre rattle
and hum era?

not really any more... I kinda lost some interest in U2 over
the years, but I still love em... I was into buying singles
a while ago though, but I only have Pop, and Achtung Baby
singles... I have a cool 4 song live cd with Please, Where
the Streets have no Name, With or Without You, and Staring
at the Sun on it from the Popmart tour... it's very nice...

as far as the new album goes...when I heard that stuck in
the moment song I was tempted to use the disc as a coaster.
that song is by far the worst song they've ever done.
pretty average album-I wish they would have gone in the
direction that eno had them going in passengers. new rem
blows away the new u2.

Never been a big U2 fan... Bono's singing always put me off.
I rarely hear melodies or singing bits that stick in my head
by him. The Edge is a pretty fucking great guitarist,
though.

yeah you know I haven't heard Passengers yet... I MUST OWN
IT SOON!!!!!! :)

but yeah, I really dislike the new album... it's definately
their worst...

some of the joshua tree singles and rattle and hum cd
singles have songs on them that are way better than the new
album. they cover unchained melody by the righteous bros.
and dancing barefoot by patti smith both are lush.

well, finally bought Passengers... seems like a cool
record... this is the style I would've loved U2 to have
continued with... more ambienty, instrumental type rock...
but obviously they weren't going to do that...

I like 'One'. The lyrics are really depressingly nice. It
sounds like they recorded it on that field where those
buffalos hang out in the video.
