no it didn't actually

Terminator was released in 1984

Robocop was released 1987

I have both the special edition of Terminator and Robocop,
and i also saw the original trailer for Robocop.

Even the extras on the Robocop special edition state that
the only reason the studio was even considering the film
(despite it's cheesy title) was because of the blockbuster
success of The Terminator
