I played more VC-games than Wii games as well before I
chipped. I have some NES and SNES games etc on my DS as well
+ PC, but there's something special with playing those kinds
of games with a great controller on a TV, iMo

yup yup. especially since i tend to play with a lot of
people --the idea of everyone crowding around a computer
seems really lame to me.

that's why i dig on mariokart64 and goldeneye so much,
becuase of the 4-way action. fuck, almost 10 years ago now
my friends and i would all get stoned and have competitions
all day on the big screen then get drunk, go out, drop e,
and fuck bitches all night in the spa.

hahaha!

I still own most old gen consoles so i have a lot of the
classics, but i downoaded:

Mega Man, legend of the mystical ninja, Kirby's Adventure,
streets of rage 2, Donkey Kong country 2, Bonk's Revenge,
Air Zonk, Wonderboy in Monsterland, Bomberman 93, shinobi 3
and Gunstar Heroes.

I only sort of regrert Wonderboy.

man, i'm jealous of your shinobi 3 -- it hasn't been
released here yet. neither has mega man, actually, but i
have the anniversary collection for my ps2.

is kirby's adventure as shallow as i remember it?

Hadn't played Kirby's adventure before and all the reviews
won me over. It's not the great game i was promised but
still rather good fun. The graphics are pretty sweet for a
NES game.

I'm gonna get puzzlers next. I remember having a love/hate
thing with LoLo and Solomon back in the days.

As for EU/USA release dates, i find it a bit frustrating.
For every shinobi 3 there's a Super Metroid. We didn't even
get the mega man collection for the ps2 here.

Mario & Yoshi is kind of a fun puzzler.
gawd can't wait until geometry wars: galaxies hits the Wii.
I need a shooter thing like that for the Wii to play a few
minutes/hours here and there.

of all the puzzlers currently on the vc i recommend lolo the
most.

Yeah, though solomon's key is quite good. I remember Lolo
really quite vividly, it was one of my most played NES
games, ever.

I've never played fu man chu before, looks like it could be
something.

chew-man-fu? i'm not a fan of the art style going by
screenshots, which is enough to turn me and my superficial
tastes away. tell me how it is if you take the plunge.

by the way, does bonk's adventure look really blurry to you?
it's nowhere near as crisp as my other vc games. i'm
wondering if it's a TurboGrafx-16 thing.

Pshaw. But yeah, I can't really be objective about that
game. Too much nostalgia. Too bad there's not a rose-tinted
glasses peripheral you can wear when you play these old
games.

But Shinobi 3 is immortal. Oh my god, if I could go back in
time and show my 1993 self the Virtual Console and how many
great Sega games are on a Nintendo console... and Mario and
Sonic in the SAME game (the Olympic thing)... 1993 Me would
spontaneously combust and all my post at XLT would
disappear.

nothing beats a game where you're fighting ninjas on a horse
in one screen, and then suddenly in the next screen you're
in a dinosaur robot factory. or the unforgettable jet-skiing
level. it's pure action game bliss, maybe even better than
gunstar heroes.

HE IS STRONGER THAN STEEL
AND MOVES FASTER THAN A WHIRLWIND.

SOMETIMES HE HIDES IN MUD.
OTHER TIMES HE TRANSFORMS HIS SHAPE
LIKE AN EVER CHANGING CLOUD.

ALTHOUGH HIS FIGHTING SPIRIT BURNS
LIKE FIRE, HIS BODY IS CALM AS
STILL WATER.

SHOULD SHINOBI FAIL BEFORE
COMPLETING THE MISSION, HE WILL
DISAPPEAR BEFORE THE DAWN AND
VANISH FOREVER.

KEEP THIS KNOWLEDGE IN YOUR HEART
AND MIND.

OMG Shinobi 3 is up now! I'm not buying it again, but I hope
billions do!

That game felt so good so control. The jumping,
double-tapping to run, bouncing off walls, that missle
dropkick... that game was the best ninja simulation of its
era. You're way too unagile in the older Shinobi games, glad
they got this up first.

But why would they send it to die against Super Metroid?
:_-( This game deserved to be a ''centerpiece'' release.

My current one isn't noisy. My first one was though and that
had a knackered disc drive on it (fairly common fault). I'd
consider getting it looked at under warranty if it sounds
like a dodgy drive.
