I love this game and even though it's only got five distinct levels I can play those over and over and over and over and over again. It's possibly one of my favorite games ever!11. Apart from Metal Gear Solid 3. Or Okami.
But yes, 'tis a wonderful experience playing Rez, and also watching it being played.

It's an amazing experience and the last level is profound. Quite lacking gameplay.

Level 5 is indeed profound, i got goosebumps playing that. I disagree that rez lacks gameplay; the simplistic gameplay fits the concept perfectly. It doesn't need complex and/or challenging gaming mechanics, it's not like other games.

The gameplay at least on the Dreamcast version is total shit, it's like it didn't even exist for the most part of the game and was also really dodgy and ran at 30fps, only the bosses were relevant, imo.
I liked the evolution of the player as he got more advanced, the music for the most part was also good specially the Adam Freeland track and level.
One similar game is Cosmic Smash, same gfx style but with a much more interesting gameplay.

If you have a PS2 get it, it's cheap, runs at 60fps and you get a fanny "trance" vibrator.
