Xbox360-very, very unreliable console.

A number of my friend's X-box 360's have died on them after
a few months (and they do look after their consoles rather
nicely, as if they were cute, fragile puppies), and I was
planning to get one myself, but it seems that the problem is
massive. Everybody I know who has had 360 has had issues
with at least one console, and gaming forums are teaming
with people who have had the bastards fall apart on them.
Really, cliched as it is-I hate Microsoft.

article

I'm glad the Wii is doing well, but I hope Sony get their
bloody act together and put out some decent games on the PS3
(and drop the price), because Microsoft needs more
competition. I've spoken to people at Game and other shops,
and they're all overwealmed at the number of complaints the
new Xbox is getting.

Yeah, mine died. Got the red ring of death on the front.
Fuck knows what happened. It just freezes when it's on.
Gonna have to fork out for a new one (out of warranty).
Probably gonna get a 360 Elite in August.

30% almost seems to be conservative figure. The failure rate
among people I know personally is 50%. My launch 360 still
works and every time I turn it on and the ring is green
instead of red, it feels like a blessing. I have set aside
some funds for an emergency, just enough for an Elite.

My buddy's 360 died a week ago.

Only got a red ring on my original Xbox and it worked fine
after I slammed it with my hand a few times.

hahaha, sorry
so:
360 then means "from birth to death"
and apparantly not a long life span

use a quarter instead

Ophecks and probe, I'd make a fuss if I was you, if/when
your consoles die. It's quite horrible that they're getting
away with this, and I wouldn't buy a console just like that
without putting up a fight. :-)

My launch Gamcube, PS2, Dreamcast, SNES and N64s all work
fine.

How the fuck can people keep calm and say "hm, maybe I'll
buy a new one" when an expensive piece of electronics bites
the dust for no good reason after a short amount of time?

C'MON PEOPLE, RIOT!

11 broked Xboxeses

Me personally, I'm just too lazy to bother, I'd rather just
get a new one. Truth be told I think I subconsiously want
mine to fail so I'll have an excuse to get an Elite.

I read about how to fix it; prop it up with as much air
surrounding all sides including the bottom as possible. Same
for that power adapter whatevermahellicalled thing.

It's funny how throughout nature a red ring indicates there
is something wrong.

CS2X, yes you're right. I will kick up a fuss with
Microsoft, it's fucking outrageous. I paid a lot for it as
it's a launch model. I've had all the consoles dating back
to the 80s and this is the first time I've had one fail.
Microsoft bullshit. Good machine though (when it works).

i fear the broken xbox.... about 3 of the 8 or so ppl I know
directly and play games with online have had theirs break.
I'm afraid of mine breaking. I don't wanna red ring.

I've had two break already and I'm waiting for my 3rd from
microsoft. Service was somewhat prompt for my first broken
one but for the second it is taking forever. Maybe rise in
temps durring the summer is causing more overheating? First
break was just straight hardware failure. Second was
constant overheating every 15 mins even when it is out in
the open. Never in all my life from the Atari 2600 and Apple
IIe to my current IPod and Laptop have ever had a peice of
electronic gear so fragile and buggy, it's just mindboggling
they can get away with releasing something in this state.
Even more annoying I am without an HD-DVD player since my
xbox360 has the addon drive. I love this machine and its
games and Xbox Live and if it wasnt constanly locking up,
crashing, overheating, saying clean discs are 'dirty and
unreadable' I would sing its praises but unfortunately it is
simply poorly made.

Let's hope the Elite is better. I read that the latest 360s
have been fitted with an extra heat sink yet they won't
admit there was a problem with overheating.

Haha! At this rate, it's becoming the market trend, rather
than the rare exception. If Mac commercials were a tad less
annoying, I'd almost be ashamed to call myself a Windows
user. (and I run XP, not the steaming pile of data that is
Vista)

btw still no info from Microsoft about my broken Xbox360
despite their claims that the next time I called on the date
they told me to they would have a tracking number for its
shipment back to me. Now they say call again in another 4
days. These people are worthless scammers. I wish I had
bought a PS3 all I want to play is Rainbow 6.

They are mad unreliable indeed. I know loads of friends who
have had theirs die on them, but mine has thus far avoided
such problems. I'm gonna be buying a PS3 soon though so i'll
play it less. I'm sure even if it's not used, the 360 will
still blow up.
