night ripper got me seriously hooked a few weeks ago, really
a great album to throw on with some friends and wait for the
"holy this, THAT song?!" moments.

unstoppable is great as well, but harder to get into, far
more glitchy. and the track i want you from unstoppable is
addictive, altho that could just be because of the fact that
it heavily features one of the best jackson 5 songs ever
(altho the one featured is a cover no?)

I ran across Girl Talk way back in the Napster days before
the mash up thing was played out or even all that
well-known. He's among the best at what he does, although
it's not something I can listen to for extended periods. I
also like him because I'm fairly certain he got his name
from a Full House episode (=instant OK in my book).

What is a "mash-up" artist? He only does mashups?

The sound of the rain gently tapping against my window.

well, he's way more than your standard mashups, there are
dozens of samples, recognizable or not, thrown at you every
minute.

after another girl talk session last night im gonna say that
unstoppable is my favorite work of his, the perfect mix
between the abrasive glitchyness of secret diaries and the
straight-forward poppiness/hiphoppityness of night ripper.
friggin awesome.

publicly?

there are a few scattered tracks on myspaces (be they his or
someone else) but nothing that i know of that would be
actually downloadable (unless of course you happen to have
one of those myspace music nabbers).

privately on the other hand.... *squeal*

sounds like m&m to me

I like it, though the songs change up too much, I think. I
just start getting into a beat before it changes really
dramatically. There are definitely good ideas in here for
producing hip-hop, but it seems more conceptual and
experimental. It could be a lot better, because the ideas
work, they just aren't developed.

sounds like the definition of "rap music".
