Not sure what to think, but not surprised either.

Rumor has it several artists who were ripped off on Acrnym's
latest release, "Flowers," have banned together and jointly
sued the label. They settled out of court and this is the
result.

The breakcore monopoly is dissolving.

i think it's a money problem - come one it's a breakcore
label - probably not even that because a lot of releases go
even further - now are hard times for such.

i cannot imagine that someone has actually sued acrnym for
his releases. the breakcore scene is rather easy going.
especially when it comes to the fact that nobody is really
"clean" with their chopped samples from movies and other
tracks which aren't legal for sure.

Apparently one of the artists who was "ripped off" has a
spouse who works for Acclaim videogames. I think the
aforementioned breaks, in combination with the unlicensed
Mortal Kombat samples, made for a rather dense case against
the label. Perhaps it wasnt as much the music style
stealing as it was the copyright infringement.

Or so I've overheard...

Oh well. Not really much of a loss. Venetian snares was kind
of tiresome years ago. He really doesn't need as many
avenues to flood the market with as he has.

- The Richard Devine album was crap.

- Snares couldnt even give them a full length, they got his
arsed left over dick diarreha.

- Funkarma's release was like Half-karma.

- 000 and Datachi was somewhat memorable.

- Aside from the new Puzzelweasel, everything else seemed
like forgettable cookiecuttercore.

Dear Sirs,

I am very concerned about the design of Spock's ears,
particularly the lobe area, in the character design of your
new Star Trek MMORPG. Indeed I fear that civilization may
face a cataclysmic downturn if this crime against fandom is
not rectified swiftly.

Live Long and Prosper,

Everybody download the docu 'good copy bad copy' from
mininova (lol). Artists need to rethink their position in
the playing field. Since hardcopies will get more and more
obsolete, new combinations of artforms must arise. Sublight
was illfated from the get go, building on an old dying
model.

I`m sorry to here that this happened.

Breakcore is good genre, just the BIG GUYS think they are
gods, and the little guys are annoying everyone else by
making false idols out of these Amen geeks.

It`s also genre that seems to be cloning itself, and some of
the quility of music is pure shit.

There is some really awesome new stuff out there, but you
have to look past all the MAINSTREAM names. It`s too bad it
has such a bad wrap with everyone, it really is a good
genre.

My reaction to reading it was "it took the fumb fucker that
long to figure that out?" and made me want to listen to his
music even less.

I mean 10 years ago while his friend was getting MP3's off
IRC and BBS I was just downloading the bastards off the good
old WWW, It is written as though he was exposing some
massive revelation, when in actual fact it was a sub-basic
economics lecture from the former sublight artist with
windows paint graphs.

I never liked the flashbulbs music that much, but his
acidwolf material is pretty decent. It was an interesting
read, but music piracy isn't a black and white issue. He is
only seeing it from a single perspective : that people who
download music never, ever buy music. Very wrong, but this
debate has been done to death so i'll leave it there.

His discussion on the greedy nature of the industry looks to
be spot on though. Only an idiot would run a record label
now. Oh wait....

Anyway, theres a simple rule which almost always guarentees
monetary success - if the music is good enough, it will
sell.
