I know its freeware now but does anyone have the install
file? And has anyone made it universal binary for mac
users?

I wouldn't mind the install file - I d/led the thing from
the their site, but the hassle involved just put me right
off.

Well, you had to burn it to CD or something, then install
it... as far as I could gather.

What I mean is, it wasn't just an install file.

You don't have to burn to a recordable Compact Disc you can
mount it on a virtual drive like Daemon Tools.

I have Daemon Tools - am I able to install it from there and
then discard the .iso file? I use a laptop so my H.D. space
it fairly limited.

Does it do a CD check when you run the application? There
always the cracked versions which are only a couple MB's.

That's basically what I'm asking :-D Annoyingly, I had the
cracked version for years.

no cd check. just mount the thing, install. or just burn the
iso and install wont really take too much time.

oh crap no. it actually does a cd check sry. so you'll have
to burn it or keep the file in your hd

ReBirth will only run on MacOS 9

MacOS 9 was included as the 'Classic' application on the
pre-Intel Macs, but there's pretty much no way to get this
to even install on a modern Mac

if it checks for CD it is possible that there is a crack
somewhere or even the instruction what byte to change
manually in a hex editor.

PS. I tried to search but found nothing :(
smbd clever has to find the needed hex address or what the
hell is needed to be changed.

I normally don't endorse the piracy of software but since
this one is free anyways, there's a perfectly good Radium
crack floating around on Emule. It's only a few megs and
bypasses the CD check. Search for rebirth and radium and
bob's your uncle.

Is it the one that lets you use the mods though?

It has been years since I had it, but at one time I had a
cracked version that was a very small install file, didn't
require a CD to be and crucially (I've tried about 5/6 other
cracked versions over the years and none of them have
managed this) you could still run mods with it (which change
the aesthetics and sounds of the drum machines).

Aw, dammit, you're right! I guess the only thing to do is
download the real full thing and mount the iso with some
utility. I use this one

Too bad... I got the Radium crack working with FL through
rewire last night and it was fun.

woops, that microsoft utility chokes on the rebirth iso for
some reason. I got it working with daemon tools.

The really weird thing is, listening to rebirth now, it
sounds as good as anything that has come out since then. I
guess you'd turn your nose up at it if you were a real 303
freak though...?

Audiorealism sounds a tad better to my ears (blind tests of
audiorealism's bassline I get about 60% right, compared to
about 75-80% on Rebirth). I find it easier to use in tracks
(VST as opposed to messing about with ReWire) too.

I do agree though that for something so old it does a
stunning job of emulating the 303. I've got a x0x b0x
(pretty much a real 303) to be built soon, so maybe I'll
make some blind tests for a laugh/to see how accurate people
are.
