Megaesophagus

Our little darlin' has a terrible disease called
megaesophagus. There's no cure. She'll spend the rest of her
life sick, unable to eat or drink normally. She'll have to
eat standing over her back feet. Standing tall. After food,
ten minutes more in vertical position. A little every two
hours.

The black one is the sick one.
Sista's ok.

work out. Are you giving her liguid food also?

That's terrible, I'm sorry to hear about you sick pup. So
she actually eats standing on her hind-legs? That's pretty
interesting, I didn't even know a dog would be receptive to
food in that position. Anyway, I wish you and your pup the
best.

Wow, that's quite a sacrifice you'll be making for your dog,
you'll have to be very steady, hard to imagine. Good luck.

Hey!
Thanx to all for your support!
We're feedin' her liquid food and she's been kinda able to
pass it down. Holdin' her for ten minutes after every small
food to keep the fuckin' esophagus in vertical position
seems to help.
We hope that if the feedin' works, at least the rest of her
life will be quite "normal".
And even when some recovery is possible, we don't rely too
much on that.

Thnx again, wifey says u r a bunch of nice gentelmen and
also sends a big Thank You...

I'll keep you updated...

Would you consider putting it to sleep if the dog will live
its remaining years in pain?

Sure. But that's the last option.
If we manage to give her a happy life, no matter how much
work-time-money it costs.
Things are goin' well this first days.
She's recovering her strenght and gainin weight. Still a bit
down, but that's normal after what has happened.

Pain and unhappines is not an option.

Dogs are versatile I guess. It'll learn how to eat standing
up to prevent pain and discomfort.

Pets are great. They bring the best out of people I suppose.

Well, it came from nowhere when she was 10 months old. We
spent a month fighting pneumonia without noticing it was
caused by megaesophagus. After a month, we discovered this
shit, and things started to get better...

She sleeps by my side right now...

Man that's sad. My pup was born with a slight heart murmur
(sp?) and we expected her to just drop dead any second of
the first few weeks of her life cause she's so mental. A vet
gave her the all clear tho and she's fine. My best to you
and yours.

Thnx again ppl...

Well Jaworski, ours also has some strange heart
malformation, but nothing serious... But that feelin' u
describe has been around us for sometime.

Both have just taken a bath (and they REALLY needed it).

Time to go to the vet for a blood test.
Actually tryin to figure the cause (if there's one) of the
megaesophagus.
I belive we will discover it's caused by Myasthenia...

Well, I'll keep you updated.

That sucks, our dog is a spaniel with problems with infected
eyes, nausea and itchy skin. It's always heartbreaking to
see a pet suffering.

:(

Sorry to hear that.

I would have prefered to get sick myself. I deserve it a
thousand times more than poor Milla...
