DirtyPriest has good taste in music.
It's similar to my own.

That being said, I just came up with this idea.

Name your top 3 fav artists/bands from the IDM genre, then
name your top 3 fav artists/bands that aren't IDM.

I'm hoping/expecting to see some patterns here, but only
time will tell!

Aphex Twin
Autechre
Squarepusher

Nirvana
Tim Hecker
Motorpsycho

Please give me the pattern, or I will be disappointed.

Such a list will vary all the time anyway, but...

Aphex Twin
BoC
Kim Hiorthøy

Thelonious Monk
A Tribe Called Quest
The Roots

I can't name three IDM artists/bands that interest me
anymore, because their aren't any. At one time or another in
the past I would have said:

BOC
Richard Devine
Autechre

but I haven't listened to any of these in over a year.

Stuff that interests me the most now:
Tangerine Dream
The Emperor Machine
Goblin

Kim Hiorthøy in your top 3 is laughable and you know it.
Isn't he from your country? Isn't he some designer guy that
does music in his spare time? His stuff sounds decent, but
putting him next to aphex and boc is blasphemous, regardless
of the fact how much you love him.

There.

back to topic:

BoC
Aphex Twin
Autechre

off top of head...

Aphex Twin
Orbital
The Orb

Black Sabbath
Sex Pistols
A Tribe Called Quest

The pattern is so unreadable you might as well draw in a
chain of fox heads on sticks. And if you do that, an
interesting thing happens: the word "cruel" starts flashing.

What's laughable is not having any bands in other genres.

"Name your top 3 fav artists/bands from the IDM genre"

fav means "favourite" not "best"

I listen to loads of music in other genres. I don't have a
particular top 3 of favs because i havent found any 3
artistst that come out with consistenly excellent music like
the aforementioned warp stars do.

If you insist:

The Beatles
Nirvana
Radiohead

Good choice. Still waiting for the patterns as announced by
the topic creator.
