I just ignore them when they argue. I reckon about 9 times out of 10 their motivation is looking for a fight/drama, rather than actually arguing (in the "actually debating something" sense of the word). I normally just say, "yeah, I'm bored now." and walk off, half way through them speaking. Evolutionary biologists generally agree that women argue, nag, start fights, have neurosis, are needy, etc. because it serves an evolutionary purpose: Most men fall for it and stick around and try to fix the problem (even if in reality, the problem is invented/only in the woman's head). This encourages the situation of the man "looking after" the woman and also being around more/spending more time with her, which means generally the children are more likely to get 2 parents raising them and hence have a better chance of survival. Of course, in the modern world, more and more men are inclined to act in a selfish (in a good way) manner and just up sticks and leave. The evolutionary tendency away from this behaviour won't catch up for ages. Personally, when these things arise, they tend to make me just become emotionally detached (gf refers to it as "becoming Mr. Frosty") and I go off out until she has calmed down or, if I want to do something in the house, send her to her mother's. |

Trentree, that's all it is - a game of psychological advantage. Does love exist? Or is there only desire? A relationship seems to be you give me what I want and I'll give you what you want. The minute one stops giving the other what they want, love quickly turns to hate. There is a constant battle every day, am I giving her what she wants, is she giving me what I want etc., so I question if love exists at all, or is it a figment of the imagination brought on by insecurity and desire. Show me someone who loves and doesn't want a thing in return for it. |
