Anyone here work from home, over the net? What do you do? What do you think of it? What are the hours and pay like?
I spend about an hour a day travelling to and from the office which costs me train fare and could be time spent earning.

Anything more than 1/2 commute would kill me. on a M-F basis? i could think of better things to do with my time. At least you have the train to rely on, where a car you would have more potential for repairs, weather, deer.

I also travel by train an hour every (work)day. So far, I like it. I'm thinking about buying a car, but the train is cheaper, and when I'm tired in the morning, coffe, newspaper and music gives me a nice start of the day.

Golden rules. 1. don't turn the telly on. 2. don't crank open messenger. 3. If you answer the phone, get off it asap. 4. don't go anywhere near pubs.

Yes, it sounds like it requires a lot of will power to resist slacking off work at home. Although I suppose the money would be the main motivator, you don't work, you can't pay the rent, eat, go out with your friends, etc...

I know some mates of mine who do it, and they say it's a very cool thing. You wake up in the morning and you don't have to go nowhere outside your own abitation, you just can sit down on your chair and start to work at home. It must be pretty relaxing indeed, I hate waking up soon in the morning, especially when your office is far from your house.

By the end of my degree in multimedia and web security I should (hopefully) be equipped enough to work from home. Seems like a wicked lifestyle to have as long as it can be maintained comfortably. I've seen others getting by quite convincingly doing it (in IT), though it mightn't necessarily be as profitable as rigid arrangements you can actually survive from home without being a slave to time.
