only timbaland could save them now. even if they were
allowed to sing along. and that says something

saw the chemical brothers live at a festival a few years
ago, had a really good time.

I guess their new album is probably rubbish, but young
teenage boys will probably love it, and it will be their
entry point into better music.
That's the fun part about music, the journey.

I started off listening to "rubbish" music, but moved on
and discovered increasingly better and better music. I was
out record shopping yesterday and still showed naiveity
about lots of artists and genres, but that means there's
still plenty for me to discover and enjoy.

The petshop boys had a good album with Please, but then
rapidly decended into rubbish.
Fatboy slim has released a few decent songs in the early
days, a bit like the chemical brothers.

Cuntychuck's point is so true, there are bands which are
mostly considered rubbish, but for me at a certain time in
my life were essential.
Sometimes music being good/bad isn't about it's merits as a
song, but the effect it has on a person.

Saturate is fantastic (the intro in particular is great) and
I'd love to hear a much longer (8-11 minute long version) as
well as some remixes. To my ears at least, everything else
on the album, however, is decidedly mediocre and far below
the standard of their usual output.

they reached perfection on "surrender", then moved on pretty
well to "come with us"....then something got broken, maybe
one of their best synths...?

i think surrender is a really good album.

also agree with cunty on fatboy slim's 'youve come a long
way'. it's good.

i have no probs with either fatboy or the chems - as far as
their 1990's work is concerned... their post-millennium
works have been overwhelmingly underwhelming. The latest
chem bros album is ridiculous and trite, but I can still go
back to something like Dig Your Own Hole (or, for that
matter, You've Come A Long Way Baby) without shame or
regrets.

I listened to this again, still not very good, is it?

A couple of decent tracks thrown amidst a sea of mediocrity.
Of course, compared to Push the Button, this might be
considered 'improvement' but... Oh well, I cave in, I'll
take 'We Are The Night' seriously as an album for a moment.
So here's my track-by-track review, gridded into a
PATENTABLE colour/number scheme:

01: No Path To Follow - Black - 3/10
02: We Are The Night - Yellow - 6/10
03: All Rights Reversed - Grayblue - 6/10
04: Saturate - GreenWhitenoise - 5/10
05: Do It Again - Quicksilver - 5/10
06: Das Spiegel - Indigochildren - 6/10
07: The Salmon Dance - definitelyNotBlue - 6/10
08: Burst Generator - Rubbish(colour'd) - 4/10
09: A Modern Midnight Conversation - WhiteRed - 7/10
10: Battle Scars - Lightwhite - 6/10
11: Harpoons - hmm? - 3/10
12: The Pills Won't Help You Now - OrangeWhite 6/10

OVERALL - GreenPurpleHaze - 5/10

---------------------
GOOD DAY SIR

well as long as they're having fun, and they don't bother
me, then I'm fine with whatever they're doing these days

i heard they bought a cuntload of expensive vintage gear to
make this album, but it all just sounds digital and
computerized to me... or is it because they just don't know
how to work an arp 2600 properly

It sounds shit to me. Don't care how they made it.
