Crickets. Some crickets sound amazing. Those metallic rapid clicks and scrapes. Some Birds, and the clicks and clacks of dead leaves rustling in the wind.

Chicadas, a nearly dried up waterfall dripping into a still body of water with high rock walls around it, the scratchy sound you get as wheat fields blow in the wind, the dragging sound of small pebbles being pulled through shallow water as a collapsed wave runs back down the beach into the sea.
All pretty IDM sounds, IMO.

your post made me want to listen to 'little fluffy clouds' off the orb live '93 album.
this is sufficiently amusing that I felt the need to post.

it's a cute tune, right? I never really 'grokked' (I *just* finished 'stranger in a strange land', heinlein) their music, lots of random noises injecting haphazardly. I used to like 'oxbow lakes' a lot.
I stayed up all night and my brain is as if weighed down by a ton of bricks, albeit coated in bubble wrap.

It's too bad the book took a turn for the worse, for me at least; I didn't like the theological/spiritual preaching of the last third. I finished it out of respect for the earlier material. It might have been interesting/deep if it hadn't been so heavy-handed.
