Has anyone ever been there? If so, what's it like?

I've been through LA once, but didn't really get to see
much, It was a family trip to Lake Tahoo and we went down to
Disney Land for a day... all I really remember was the most
crowded interstates I've ever seen

I lived there for 6 years. It has its ups and downs, I love
that warm weather, but the traffic is bad. You need
a car to live. Its also not that far from a lot of cool
places to go. My view is kind of biased though, because its
like my childhood home.

I was born in Huntington Beach. From what i remember it's
crowded, got heavy traffic at all times of the day/night,
and has nice beaches (up by malibu).
Nice place to visit. Xanatos is right -- access to a car is
essential. The new metrorail system is nice but it doesn't
go to many useful places.

ya i've been there. i was born in Sacramento on an air force
base.
i think a theory of LA is that it's nice to visit but the
Å¡its to dwell

i live in a suburb about 20-30 minutes away from l.a.
traffic is bad during peak hours, but there are a lot of
great places for things like photography and art. it
matters where you go really. there are clubs scattered all
over the place, tons of small venues to see bands, as well
as large venues.

so ya, it's pretty nifty here as long as you know where to
go

I have lived in southern CA all my life and well I really
DONT like LA at all....

I also live about 50 min outside of LA and I rarely go to
the city.

Maybe I am just in a bad mood and still waking up from a
LONG weekend...Ill post later when I am in a better mood...

ummmmm......well lets see. i fly into/out of there every
week. LAX is a nightmare, and LA as a whole is not a place i
like to spend any time. HOWEVER, there are lots of fun
things to do IF you have a car and a plan. The Getty Center
is one of the finest museums in the world and it's located
in Santa Monica (suburb? of LA) and then they have LOTS of
cool shows. i recommend going once, especially if someone
you like is playing.....like RICHARD was...eheheh. but it's
a huge city.....and i don't find it very beautiful like
Chicago or NYC. =0)

I'm from the East coast and never have been to the West
Coast. After I graduate from college I want to do film and
am sick of NYC, so I'm thinking it's time for some West
Coast. LA is my destination... maybe I'll visit it before I
try to live there. All I'm saying is it can't be worse/more
boring/ less job opportunities than Baltimore, MD.
