The Tuss - have they killed IDM?

Has The Tuss finally killed IDM? Have they managed to forge
a new genre? Something one can aspire to rather than simply
mimic? You thought electronica was going to pot, you thought
it was all fucked up beats and bad pads. Or berks putting
out Acid Acid (Acid Mix). Or amatuers and their "Hey, just
done a track, took me twenty minutes".

The Tuss.

The Tuss.

Four tracks so far.

An album soon.

The Tuss.

The Tuss. Unassuming, no hype, minimal marketing fan boy
fleecing, just the music. Who saw The Tuss coming? The
Tuss.

Better than Acid.
Better than Aphex.
Better than all that's gone before.
The Tuss.

IDM is dead. Post-Tuss is where it's at.

If I squint really hard I can see Charles Manson offering
Tom Cruise a cigarette.

A Clue!

Ok, I have two questions. I think they're about british
slang terms.

1. "...going to pot." Is that like going to shit? Is pot
slang for toilet? I mean, I've heard the phrase "going
potty". Is there a relation?

2. What is "The Tuss"? Is it slang for vagina or what? I'm
just guessing here, because "tuss" sounds sort of hairy, and
moist too.

Thanks "mates"!
"Cheers!"

:)

"Tuss" is from the latin root that means cough. In French
the word morphed into toux. The Tuss might also be a
reference to Robitussin, containing, DXM, which deepens my
suspicion that The Tuss, Aphex and Monoid are really the
same person.

I'd rather classify The Tuss as post-"acieeed" era
Tuss-step/brainfusion, mixing the best elements of classic
stuff like "early Warp", "original, Rephlex-style
Braindance" and "proto-IDM". Fan suspicion is minimal as to
whose identity lies behind these acieeed soaked
traxx, but for those who wonder, there is always Wikipedia
and the unwaveringly reliable IDM forums, where only the
most stern, thorough fans habitually converse in order to
rationally certify the various identities and side projects
of otherwise highly prestigous artists, such as The
Flashbulb, Arovane, Pendulum, The Aphex Twins and many
more.

Have they killed IDM? Irrelevant. IDM is a phoenix. Burns
out, reawakens from its ashes and repeats this procedure
endlessly.

its not experimental electronic music though, most of the
experimenting stopped pre 2000 . the term quasi-experimental
electronic music would be more fitting.

I find the term "experimental" when applied as an umbrella
term to any genre is really quite... pretentious (no offense
because I still like EEM far more than "IDM"). But, is it
not possible that an artist knows exactly what he/she wants
to accomplish with a track before making it? I can think of
plenty of good electronic tracks that don't do anything
particularly experimental (unless you consider making music
with a computer an experiment) but sound great nonetheless.
Perhaps I just need some clarification here. Which element
of EEM are we considering to be "experimental?" Certainly
it's not the music as an idea/concept, right?

Didn't see jack's post prior to my last one, but I agree
with the term quasi-experimental electronic music, or QUEEM!

I love Richard James' ginger skinny sausage. I will buy
anything you put in front of me that you claim may have had
his involvement.

I also love his ingenious stranglehold control over the smug
little clique of culturally bereft and cringingly immature
finger-sniffers that make up His royal court and much of the
Rephlex roster and beyond, and the way they lick His royal
ginger arse daily and do His bidding in the Great Struggle
to maintain the illusion that he is somehow a musical
prodigy who built his own instruments and invented all forms
of music sometime around 1988.
