justice - d.a.n.c.e.

so this just came out monday, and unfortunately not having
turntables i was *cough* forced to download it. well, holy
crap.

phantom is pretty standard justice, loud distorted bass and
synths, great stuff but nothing ground breaking.

the title track on the other hand... im amazed. i had no
idea justice could do a pop song this well, it really is
spectacular. they do a great job of melding those bit
crushed electro sounds with some excellent old school
samples. oddly enough, it brings about hints of jackson 5
as well as michael's own off the wall album, with those
soaring string stabs being tossed around.

check out the radio edit of d.a.n.c.e. on their myspace,
but keep in mind, it doesn't do justice (no pun intended) to
the extended mix on the single.

also, the remix b.e.a.t. is a strong reworking of the title
track and stands well on its own. now all we need is a full
album from these guys, but i have a sad feeling it wont be
until theyve put out at least a few more singles, which
unfortunately is happening at way too slow a rate for my
tastes.

i liked justice when they made slamming filterhouse. does
the world need more french radio friendly pop crap?

they're off the list for me now :(

What an incredibly annoying vocal. This track fails.

wasn't annoying at all.

to change soon.

probably is. It'll be interesting to hear.

the new daft punk? or would that be giving them too much

its not exactly my favourite music, but it is kind of ok.

no, from what i have read, they will be concerntrating on
pop now. i don't like euro vocal pop so their new music will
be off my list.
if that's is fickle, cool.

The Jackson and Alan Braxe remixes of this track are great.
The actual album kind of sucks though.

yeah, the jackson mix is fucking epic, clocking in at over
11 minutes.

only problem is, like with pretty much all his tracks, i
have to crank them so much louder to make it fit with a mix,
dunno why really.

i love dance, but the rest of the album gets dull soon. like
listening to the same track all over again. mr. oizo was
doing this sort of stuff for the past 10 years..but
d.a.n.c.e., yes this one's very nice.

Cassius 1999 is great. Shame about their recent stuff, very
boring.

Strange how much I love filterhouse nowadays, considering
how tired I grew of it when it got huge in France by the end
of the 90s. Might be a kneejerk reaction to soulless recent
dance music, incredibly clean, serious and stern under its
veneer of good fun. D.A.N.C.E. is one of the more tolerable
Justice songs, but it still lacks something.

Well firstly, for a track called D.A.N.C.E., it certainly
lacks danceability.

yeah, exactly..going over these older dance songs from late
90's (and earlier) shows how blank dance (house) music got
nowdays.. and that it actually hasn't moved much forward,
except they got rid of the soulfulness..

as for danceabilty to dance..it would do for a slow dance i
reckon.

glad to hear you think it's one of their better songs too, i
thought it was one of those things only i hear : )

right? how's that pronounced? something like khoa?

i think its meant to be unpronouncable, like 'the artist
formerly known as prince' before he was 'the artist formerly
known as the artist formerly known as prince'

and i noticed an ep with a justice remix of d.a.n.c.e., does
anyone know if its just b.e.a.t. or something different?
because b.e.a.t. is prolly the best of all the versions for
sure.

I think Smash is great, I'm not really sure why. Maybe
because it was released right before this kind of music
became really big and annoying, but I think there's
something else. It sounds more daring and fun, groovier,
less fixated on that falsely fun club aestheticism.
