That would be cool - I've been involved in fledgling groups
before, such as the infamous Knightmare Krew, a
late-night soulseek-based outfit inspired by the children's
TV show of the 1980s/90s, where we would be given a key
signature and a tempo and have to bang out a loop in half an
hour, and mash em up. Were you part of that group, I
can't remember? :)

Thanks, I thought of it myself ;) Anyway, I'm always up for
being a member of a collective!

Sounds like fun. Once i've got all my current work out of
the way we can sort something out for sure!

I suppose i should use this thread for its intended
purpose:
Stupid Loop 1
Stupid Loop 2

Well, I'm becoming serious about producing something which
can have the label 'album' slapped onto it: my Friday the
13th
revis. is certainly something I'm putting some
effort into: two tracks in, and they're sounding quite nice.

I know exactly what you mean. I've got to the point now
where im enjoying taking time over what im doing, linking
tracks thematically and stylistically (I hope) and aiming
for an album feel rather than indiviual doodles. A
soundtrack is a great project to work on, in my opinion,
because of the visual cues you already have which help with
a lot of the initial stumbling blocks that crop up when it
comes to working on a body of work.

It'd be great to collaborate on a 're-scoreing' of a film. I
know you're a Carpenter fan and i'd love to do something
like The Fog or even Escape From New York. Films with very
distinct settings (futuristic city, seaside town) that could
really influence the music. Sorry i'm driveling now!

I'm afraid The Fog soundtrack is simply too good
(it's my favourite). I wouldn't mind doing The Thing,
though: it has a good score already, but it'd be nice to
make 'atmospheric antarctican ambient' music for it :)

Definately. Glacial soundscapes plus the claustrophobia of
being stuck in that research centre with something not of
this world!
Good choice!

Have you heard the released score to "Assault On Precinct
13"? The first track is the famous theme (one of the best),
followed by about thirty 2-minute tracks of a very
high-pitched note... very bizarre.

And the "Dark Star" soundtrack is basically the dialogue
from the film with the fantastic Benson, Arizona in
the middle.

I've heard the Assault On Precinct 13 soundtrack you're on
about but I have to admit that i've never even seen Dark
Star.

God, this reminds me, I was meant to send you a DVDr of
Carpenter/Goblin soundtracks: I actually found the disc the
other day! So, if you'd still like it, I'll still send it
:)

... And w M w, of course you are more than welcome to
join...

The Knightmare Krew ! !

or, since there are three of us, we can be named in honour
of my favourite series of teenager's books,

The Three Investigators ! ! !

I could use some skeleton files to figure out how stuff
works easier. I probably won't even have it for a month
though. I'm gonna have flash too. This'll pretty much be the
first quality computer I've ever had and I'll likely spend
25/24 hours a day on it.

you've got! I'll email you my address.

That was made in flash? Wondering cuz it looks like small
pixels are used in that but I guess flash uses vector
graphics. The drop part looks flash-ish though. I hope I can
do complex weird stuff in it. That tool to make instant
animation frames at once looks very useful and time saving.

Is that supposed to move? I've noticed a few picture files
which I'm pretty sure are meant to move--except for me, they
don't.

The picture of Aphex is one someone else did. The tear is
flash, yes. I'm using it at the moment for actual website
design which is something I havent done in years (the last
version I had was Flash 3). The learning curve is still
amazingly low, its very easy to just dive in and get your
hands mucky so to speak.

Can you link me to some flash animation software? I would
love to have a bash! You don't need to be good at art or
anything, right?

The main one is Adobe Flash (formerly Macromedia Flash)
but it costs a lot. As far as im aware, Adobe own the
patents to all aspects of Flash animation so this is the
only software worth getting. I suppose demonoid might
help...

I bought the whole monkey pro version for 380 bixucks. Maybe
you need to go to flash's main site and download the current
flash player or whatever which is probably free.

flash cs2 or something is coming out soon I think.

I hope these vector graphics can be worked around. Maybe a
really small 'square' can serve as a pseudo pixel. Or there
are probably interesting things that can be done that would
be harder to do on stuff using pixels.

Looking on Demonoid, it seems that Adobe Flash is
about half a gigabyte! 500 megabytes just to knock out some
Flash Animations??
