It's a compilation with Boards of Canada inspired music by
independent musicians.

It's like the xltvibes but it's miles ahead of it ;)

That's odd... I haven't heard any error reports after the
installation of the new tracker software. There have been
several dozen of OoT torrent downloads so far...

What kind of torrent program are you using?

torrentflux.. a web interface that uses bittorrent as a
client, i believe.

i don't think it has logs either, so i can't figure out
what;'s going wrong.

i got the cue version, but the cuefile doesn't work :/

You seem to be lucky eh.

I bet foobar is having difficulties with the INDEX 00,
here you can download an edited version. This one
should work.

Am I the only one that finds this entire release, the idea
of it, the sound of it, to be complete and total rubbish?
Does the approach of admitting and intentionally trying to
sound like another artist instead of claiming it to be their
unique artistic artistic change anything? No.
Infact I think it makes things all the more laughable. I
might have been able to enjoy this if I had never heard
Boards of Canada before. But all I could do while listening
was laugh to myself "oh, look, he made that synth all wobbly
and bocish. whats that.. a bocy beat? all we need now is a
windly fluty interlude, oh, there it is!"

I was going to say something like that, I even started
typing it, but I thought it'd just be more dog_belch
intesinal gas in the wind and best left unsaid. But you said
it without recourse to swearing and from a more respectable
position, and all the more convincingly for it. Under
fractionally different circumstances I'd marry you.

Being inspired by Boards of Canada doesn't mean it
necessarily have to sound like BoC. A fair amount of songs
do have a BoCish sound for sure.

I bet you think the same way about Vsnares as he obviously
was inspired by Afx.

I've seen this point of view several times before, like
Clark inspired by Afx, The Flasbulb by various IDM artists,
Freescha by BoC and so on. I personally like to hear the
influence of a certain artist, some don't.
I can't imagine a world where no one was influenced by
something, particularly not with art.

Alright, so this album, comprised of artists inspired by
boards of canada, that all reside on a boards of canada
messageboard, set out to make an album that sounds like
boards of canada. what were you saying again?

I'm desperate for something new to listen to, so I nabbed
this (via the torrent), and found it surprisingly nice. I'm
not too much of a boc fanatic (that fact could bias either
way). Thanks for posting it.

I'll note that it has lots of weak tracks, but I don't care,
so nearly all of my recent downloads in this jaded phase are
honestly painful.

you could also think of it as a tribute. no need to hate.

aesthetics:

while the mixing is (near) flawless as ever, most of the
songs need a bit longer to sink in for me.

I'll 'review' this after repeated listens. Some instant gems
though, like the piano piece.

The song you are talking about is a composition by Saturday
Index, called Satin Window. It caught my attention right
away as well, lovely piece!

The goal was the emphasize the songs rather than emphasize
the mix or being a flawless mix. Most of the songs are in
there for 100% of its original length so no cutting or
transformation whatsoever was applied. I consider it a
crossfaded compilation de luxe.

I'm looking forward to your 'review' :)

I did listen to it for about 15 minutes, and I thought it
was ok, but then it just sounds sickly and I couldn't face
the lies anymore.. there is something wrong with an hour and
half of BOC-inspired tunes that all wish they were actually
by BOC. It's interesting too that the only period of BOC
inspiration is the period up to MHTRTC, there's no Campfire
Headphase style influence apparent.

This is the BOC equivalent of Harry Potter fan
fiction
, and I don't think that's all that clever
either. Sorry.
