I went to the 'Lovebytes' festival last night to see Gescom
DJ. The event was free and started at midnight and I got
there about 11 to see Vector on before them. At about
midnight 2 guys appear behind the decks.....and whip out
some apple laptops and DJ from those. I had no idea who this
was as Gescom is a collective of i've heard about 30 people.

The music was pretty good and it was the first time I'd got
to hear this kinda stuff outside my house, but it was far
too quiet, I suppose as it was a bar and people wanted to
chat. After a bit of time (and too many pints) I plucked up
the courage to say something (me and my friends were sat
RIGHT in front of them all evening) and the guys told me
they were Autechre and I asked em how many people were in
Gescom and stuff, to which they debated and eventually
decided more than 'So Solid' heheh.

I didn't want to pester them any more because they were
obviously working (much to our amusement it was funny too
see them concentrate extremely hard in unison on their
laptops, at the mixing part I guess) and so I respected that
and also I didn't have much to say to them. I haven't
actually listened to much autechre so I wasn't gonna say "I
love LP5!" or anything cos I'd just feel stupid (though what
I have heard, dael and glitch, I love). Since I make music
myself i'm interested in what proggies they used to DJ,
Traktor maybe? and I wish I'd asked but as I said, they
weren't exactly talkative.

There was a group of friends and (I'm guessing) behind them
including some women, but I don't know if one of them was
Chantel Passemonte (Mira Calix).

When one of them first said to me they were autechre, I just
went 'wow', to which one of them chuckled and told the
other...I feel stupid!

This is probably about longest post I ever done, just
thought I'd share it!

PS- I don't think many people even knew who they were

I saw her at the absent spusher, plaid show, and she played
haunted house type stupid ambient dark crap for about
roughly an hour......not exactly the type of show a crowd
expecting squarepusher wants to hear.

As I said, I don't know. The laptops did look VERY cool,
especially in the dim light with the apple logo lit up.
