Angela Hewitt's recording of the Goldbergs is superior to
Gould's '81 version.

I'm glad you remember my earlier remarks! I like his young
things these days; yes I like the young goldberg recording.
In particular he did a nice recording of the italian
concerto back then.

The last piano piece I listened to was by MEDTNER though, go
figure.

I've been listening to Gould's recording of Mozart's Piano
Sonatas. Why does he insist on fucking with tempi so much?
He absolutely fucks up the first movement to the popular A
major sonata. There's such a fucking cult that encompasses
this fuck that I probably will never listen to another
recording of his. His compositions were horrible as well.

ha ha ha. He's excellent at understanding melodies,
counterpoint (true parallel interpretation), and rhythmic
incision.

A friend of mine believes gould to be the only pianist that
can play simultaneous alberti bass in the left hand and
trills in the right hand. A presumably trivial exercise
that nails the best.

penios.

Really? No one else can play Alberti bass and a trill but
good old Glenn? That's nonsense. I've heard other pianists'
interpretations of Mozart, and Mozart is just about all
Alberti bass and trills.

it isn't my claim. but my friend has an excellent ear and
mind, and according to him, everyone else approximates the
left hand wildly.

the current discussion doesn't make the thread any less
retarded. you should be ashamed.
