i read this theory somewhere. it said that we choose our partners on an instinctive level, in a way that serves to benefit our future children.
the characteristics that we select in our partners are those which best compliment our own, and the sum of these factors forms the ideal child.
that could perhaps explain why we often choose partners who seem totally different to us.
