what the hell does "preppy" mean? i've heard it for years
and never really known what it stands for. i quite like the
uffie releases though, great production.

WIKI- In recent years, young people have begun to use the
term "preppy," often shortened to "prep" as a noun, as slang
to describe those who seem better off financially or
class-wise than others in a middle class environment. In
most regions, especially amongst young people, this usage
has virtually replaced the traditional meaning of the word.
Used in this manner, "preppy" is often applied contrary to
the term's original meaning stated above, as the slang
version most often describes publicly-educated people
absorbed in the middle class hypermaterialistic pop culture
pursuit of ostensibly quality-made goods sold at prices for
those who can pay for the best and most fashionable, and are
'obsessed' with clothes and shopping. As such, teenagers
often apply this slang label to popular clothing not
characteristic of "prepdom" like Banana Republic, Club
Monaco, Hollister Co., American Eagle, Abercrombie and
Fitch, The Gap, Structure, Aeropostale, Killer Loop, and
H&M.

In 1980, American Jewish author and private school, but not
boarding school, alumna Lisa Birnbach[1] notice wrote the
Official Preppy Handbook, a tongue-in-cheek guide to what
she termed "prepdom." Though intended as satire, it is
widely adhered to as a guidebook by those who embrace the
latter interpretation of preppy fashion.

i only said that i think she sounds like a bitch, i never
made a comment about the other artists on there. in no way
did i infer that ed banger is shite only because uffie is

she does however make me dubious about the other
stuff on ed

Love ed banger!

Got into them through Oizo. Then I got into uffie, but she's
only good cause oizo and feadz make awesome beats for her.
Then there is Sebastian who is making some of the best
filterhouse in the world today. Surkin rocks too..

So far seen;

Justice
Sebastian & Kavinski
Uffie
Feadz

All good shows, feadz is an awesome DJ.

ive been obsessed with this label recently but have found it
hard to find many records to download because im a poor
college student.

justice has been rocking my face off for the past year or
so, and oizo's new album is excellent. uffie's fun just for
the oizo beats as said before, and the sebastian remix of
human after is fucking dank.

ill have to try to get my hands on that samples, sounds
excellent.

well, the newer one, moustache (half a scissor). 2005 i
think? new enough, especially considering how long it took
him to follow up analogue worms.

you had me worried for a sec there..
I know he is directing a film at the moment which is
exciting, I know he is primarily a director and has done
many music videos, including flat beat, it will be sweet to
see his stuff.

He did bring out nazis last year I guess, I'm just very
excited about 'steak' that pops up on his myspace page
occationally. It sounds like his "new sound"

what I would call the current parisian elctronic style. very
choppy brocken beats with intresting time sigs but
essentially still house sounds albeit whickedly filtered and
loud.

odd time sigs? it still all seems very 4/4 to me, just
extremely syncopated at times.

Time sig was not the right term, yeah most of it is 4/4
but.. erm you know what i mean.

Sycopated:
A syncopation or syncopated rhythm is any rhythm that puts
an emphasis on a beat, or a subdivision of a beat, that is
not usually emphasized.

Brilliant.
