When I was six I thought up the (crap) joke:

Knock, Knock.
Who's there?
Doctor.
Doctor who?
You just said it.

I'd never heard the joke before (nor had any of the kids in
my school I told it to) and was massively pissed off when my
older brother told me that it was a common joke (I thought
at the time he was lying to wind me up). It was only when
other people told me it was an existing joke I believed
them. Of course, at that age, I couldn't comprehend the fact
that it'd be far more unusual/unlikely for it to have been
original.

I'm suprised you'd not heard of Dooh Nibor economics before
though, given your socialistic bent.

The EU's Common Agricultural Policy is a prime example.
