Anyone else use one of these instead of a chair? I've been doing it for a few days now and question the effectiveness of it as I've not experienced any of the aches or tiredness I normally associate with exercise.

'Swiss balls have been criticized by serious strength coaches because people tend to overuse them, which can lead to injury. Strength coach Charles Poliquin has stated "About 70% of Swiss ball exercises are worthless. It's just one of those things where people are taking an idea too far. There's some value to it, but it's not a cure-all."'

I dunno, a mate who is an olympic sports physiotherapist and highly respected in his field swears by them.
I agree that a lot of the exercises seem a bit pointless (I don't do exercises on them- I just use mine as a chair). I take the piss out of them too calling it soft play for adutls.

well those weren't my words... they do look a bit daft. are you sure your mate isnt on comission?
anyway i've never tried one, but you can do stretches and lifts and things without one surely?
how much would one set you back anyway?
no more questions.

They cost bugger all. Even a decent branded one (I've got the an Adidas one in the largest size) shouldn't cost more than £20. I don't find it particularly good for stretches. Push ups on them are annoying (I prefer using something stationary like the edge of the bed).
