"i was saved at 5"

*backs out of the room slowly*

It's hard to tell if the trailer is promoting it as good or
plain whacky/scarey

As a Christian, I find this highly offensive.

When, exactly, did the fuckwits forget about "Thou shalt not
make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any
thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth
beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt
not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD
thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate me."

Yes, the Catholics have overlooked this (not to mention many
other facets of biblical dogma) for years, but at least they
don't venerate an image of the president, for fuck's
sake.

"As a Christian.."

.... well that was a thread-killer.

Peter Griffin "Thanks J.C!"

I have a feeling this movie will make me feel kind of sick
when I watch it.

Yeah, that's pretty bad... I think people still need to have
an open mind and not be so quick to label all Christians as
being like this though, because they're not. I think the
whole Christian religion has a bad image because of stuff
like this. It's just common sense though, you shouldn't
judge everyone based on a few.

I saw this movie with a friend when it came out. He isn't a
Christian.. I basically am. We both found it pretty
enjoyable, in a ghastly sort of way. It kind of reminded me
of a hellishly perverted version of Vacation Bible School
(Ceri may or may not know what I'm talking about...). It
was a good insight and I liked the filmmaking techniques,
even though they were a little over-the-top manipulative.
It really reinforced the already irreparably bad reputation
of Christianity, even though they did focus on the more
extreme, unsavory brand of it. The music was great though.

Saw this movie a few months ago.
Basically documents the response to radical Islamist terror
camps by a small group of radical Christians.
They stop short of actually weapons training the youth but
its very obvious that the last thing on the mind of the
woman running the camp is Christianity.

I didn't really like it, it looked like it was trying very
hard to construct a simple narrative out of the absolute
complexity of life, which is the mark of mediocre
documentary filmmaking.

I'll watch this out of curiosity, its amazing what some
christians will go through in order to apparently show their
love for god. Their's a fine line between heavy worship and
cult status. Anyone know if you can get this on netflix?

I've not heard of Vacation Bible School. I agree that this
focuses on extremists (not unlike the Islamic extremists
they supposedly are so against). It's unfortunate that the
whole religion is tarred with the same brush, but I suppose
we get off lightly. One of my mates is a fairly moderate
Muslim, the way I'm a fairly moderate Christian.
Unfortunately, being 25 and male and visiting family back in
Afghanistan every other year, he is a bit of a prime suspect
for terrorism, in spite of his loathing for Saddam (his
family fled his country because his dad spoke out against
him) and vehemently defending the war in Iraq as moral. He
gets stopped at airports all the time, not to mention the
abuse he gets from rascists. I'd say we get off lightly
compared to them.

i agree that the doc looks like an over-simplification of a
complex state of affairs but at the end of the day there is
no denying that its pretty horrific to have a room full of
kids screaming about what essentially amount to a
tooth-fairy for adults.

fools, these lost souls here, in the movie. which ofcourse
is not true and i guess can offend some people..

"Is it belief, or brainwashing? How can a five year old have
enough life experience to want more out of it?"

this film feels like i'm a bad person for not believing in
Jesus and God, but i don't care. Long live sins! *makes
breakcore*

Ok, I just saw this film, and.. I'm kind of at a loss for
words. It's kind of weird how the people they talk to aren't
even trying to hide what they're doing
(indoctrinating children). And the poor kid feeling guilt
for having a hard time believing.. and the one who was
"saved at 5" who already knows every rhetoric trick in the
book without ever having been taught them (I'm guessing he's
attended lots of meetings and watched the more experienced
preachers, and just does as they do).

And the way the parents are giving home-tutoring...

Surely you know that bit in the bible where it says, "Thou
shalt not use the internet." (Hexagon Sun 3:29)And, "Even in
the hands of the righteous man, the modern compuer is a tool
of the devil." (Luddites 15:21)

I was joking. I had hoped references to the "modern
computer, not to mention "hexagon sun" would have made that
clear? :)

I wasn't joking about being a Christian myself.
