hey everyone, i have a friend who recently asked me if i
knew anything about how visual music graphics work, for
example, the image displays in itunes, windows media, etc...
i'm assuming they are reflective of what frequencies are
being played through the music?

anyway, it sounds like he's looking to program something
that will create different graphics/colors/textures that are
based on what the music is doing. if anyone here knows
anything about that, or can post some links related to this,
i'd appreciate it with a nice wet fart on xlt's interface.
thanks.

hopefully he'll make something outstanding, so many people
make crap visuals.

yeah i'm not sure what he has planned yet, but i remember
something he did with flash back in college was pretty
cool...i think he set up a variable that would generate
either a preset or a random formula that could display
varying colors within a geometric object (also generated
based on some variable). it might not have been too complex
but it definitely looked good.

VVVV will allow you to do stuff like that and its
quite easy to learn how to use (people say. i did 'hello
world' then bottled it)

I think the area your friend needs to look into is called
"Computer Programming".

I have a programme that does the visuals for Goth-Rock. It
creates an empty, void, meaninglessly painful yet tragically
beautiful black screen.
