Because you're not Яussian, just a Soviet fetishist.

I knew someone at University who had a similar fascination
for anything Russian, dressed up like a fucking solider,
drew pictures of the ballerinas, had a collection of stupid
hats. He was a fucking tiresome nob-end as well.

Ezkerraldean's dream synth.

NB: In case you actually consider getting one. They don't
sound very good and are expensive for what they are.

For some reason I find the Cyrillic alphabet to be quite
ugly. It just seems a bit artificial and unnatural.

No writing is more beautiful than Arabic, in my opinion

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2007-02-21 12:59 [#02053280]

I have for a long time wished for a synthesizer that has
cyrillic all over it. As a matter of fact, I am kind of
designing a label to go over my sh201 that makes it look
russian, and covers up the ugly.

It's not our fault autechre and aphex twin, whom this
messageboard is mostly dedicated, don't make any discussion
worthy music anymore. That said, I say hurrah-znakinork to
the cyrillic alphabet and I hope it is made into a soup
and/or/while/if cereal.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2007-02-22 00:43 [#02053519]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker | Followup to i_x_ten: #02053390

No. It will look more engaging. It will sound the same. If
you have ever played an instrument, its about the experience
not just the sound.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2007-02-22 00:50 [#02053522]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker | Followup to i_x_ten: #02053390

If I were only concerned about sound I would be collecting a
bunch of ugly looking rackmount modules that would be
interfaced through the computer.

offline i_x_ten from arsemuncher on 2007-02-22 02:10 [#02053536]
Points: 10031 Status: Regular

oh good grief.
"If
you have ever played an instrument, its about the experience

not just the sound."

thats just such an absurd thing to say i have no idea what
to say to that. i do play instruments, and find it quite
patronising that you assume i don't because i regard the
appearance irrelevant. honestly thats proper shallow like.

who's going to see all your equipment anyway, other than the
bailiffs.

Points: 9958 Status: Lurker | Followup to i_x_ten: #02053536

Anyways, its not meant to sound any more patronising than a
comment like "It will sound much better that way". As far as
I am concerned, its a pretty shallow to only focus on the
musical part of the act of making music. Its like
appreciating only the taste in food, when there is so much
more than that involved in enjoying a meal. Sorry if I
offended you. You can now go back to being 'IDM' without
having to worry with my comments on what I want to do with
my synthesizers.

When I think someones trolling, I generally give them much
more ammunition that they seem to need, so they end up just
not carring because its way more energy which is worth,
which is usually what people learn once they have had the
internet for more than a month. Some people are slow
learners.

xlt inserts line-breaks into long lines, cutting unicode in
partz which results in that shit;

one solution is silly - just write in russian and tell
others to switch page encoding to win1251. For latin-1 posts
will look "guhrbled", but for win1251 it'll be normal
letters.

another solution is even more silly (or not silly) - convert
only those ASCII symbols to unicode which are not present in
latin alphabet, use latin lookalike symbols instead the
rest

e-fucking-xample:
