I hate to clog up the MB with annoying requests but...
...I'd recently reached capacity on my laptop hardrive so bought and external hardrive. I need to move all the music files off of the laptopdrive and on to my new one but in to itunes. When i have the computer only offers me the option of playing the files in Windows Media Player or Realplayer. I've been trying for hours but can't work it out.
Can anyone help this technological retard?
Thanks

Right click one of the MP3's and hold down the shift key as you do so. It will give you the option to "open with..." in the cascade menu. From there, you can choose itunes and make it your default player.
There is probably an option to associate mp3's with itunes in the main program too, but I don't use it.

also, youll have to change your itunes default music folder which you'd find in preferences > advanced.
to make things easier, if you have mp3's laying about, consolidate your itunes library before copying the whole folder to the harddrive.
after that, youll either have to delete your itunes library and reimport all your songs, or tell it where the new file is each time you play a song for the first time (its a pain in the ass, i know, but thats the way apple likes to make things if you do it not their way)
