What do you want from death?

Upon my death, I'd like to be given the opportunity to be
able to view all of time. Scanning back and forth through
the development of earth and the cosmos, like a videotape,
but without the restrictions of viewing it on a television
screen. I would be an omnipresent being eating popcorn from
my cloud while laughing at the fools carrying on down below,
and if I get tired of watching the romans digging their
graves I can move forward a few thousand years and watch
another civilization to the same thing over again.

What do you want from death?

Fairly quick, fairly painless, for a purpose.

After death I'd like to live in a society a bit like the
Jehovah's reckon heaven will be like, but obviously with
better music and fast cars and bikes.

minutes too.

i'd like everyone to have their own, private fantasy world
in which you could basically invent, live, do whatever you
want. you'd be a god or/and a goddess in your own world,
except for one thing maybe: you couldn't create real living
beings or do bad things to them. when you'd want to meet
other beings, there would also be an infinite ghost universe
in which you could meet anyone when they'd come out of their
world. in this universe, there would be replicas of earth at
various times, other planets, and all kinds of other places,
every place someone ever imagined... of course it wouldn't
be easy to recognize and meet people from your previous
life, since you don't know what they'd look like now nor
where they would be in this infinite world, but it's not
like you'd be in a hurry anyway since you would have all the
time you want. you could invite other dead people into your
world as well. basically you'd have a great, almost absolute
freedom. you could choose not to feel boredom or pain, you
could escape anytime you want, you could have every record
in the world and in other world as well, you could live in a
wonderful romantic place just with your lover for as long as
you want as long as he/she wants it as well... etc. and you
could choose to end all this if you wanted. then i don't
know what would come afterwards.

...of course, i don't seriously believe in this, i think
that it's most likely that when you die you just die, it's
over, you don't exist anymore. which isn't such a bad thing
after all: if this is true, i can imagine whatever i want as
a possible afterlife - i won't be there to be deceived when
it doesn't come. i think it's much better than these
horrible stories of damned souls, eternal heaven and eternal
hell without any hope or whatever.

I would like for the curtain to be pulled back, and the
truth to be revealed. I would like to understand why it is
that anything at all exists. I would like to understand
*everything*. I want in on the secret.

I also want to never come back.

Because I find it hard to convince myself not to stress
about the things I stress about, and the stress isn't
related to not having enough time left of my life, but about
doing what I'm doing, what I want to do, what I want to do,
but can't do and what I feel I have to do, and doing it
well.

I want interactive statistics. I want to know how many
pounds of bugs I've eaten, then I want to relive them all in
a stylish montage. I want to know how much time I spent
sleeping. The times I came closest to dying. How many times
I said certain words or thought certain thoughts. A complete
record of every dream I've ever had. Things like that.

escape from the limitations that this material world binds
us to. conversion into light energy spread across all
matter. basically what we can't possibly fathom from our
measely five senses. limitless knowledge and freedom from
the restrictions of time.
